Pretty red and yellow lamps juxtaposed with rich teakwood flooring and cricket-themed posters dotting the chic burgundy walls create an elegant, sit-down ambience at this restaurant started by popular Indian cricketer Zaheer Khan. The menu offers a selection of gourmet Indian dishes – start off with a hearty bowl of apple lentil soup accompanied with a plate of kababs – the paneer spinach tikki (creamy and luscious) and Irani tangdi kabab (mellow and succulent) are good bets, but I particularly relished the shikampuri mutton shami kabab – think juicy chunks of goat meat stuffed with dry fruits. The establishment also rustles up some beautiful curries – from a khatti arbi ka salan featuring tangy colocassia cooked in Hyderbadi spices, Bhavnagari chillies stuffed with minced paneer simmered in a thick, piquant gravy, murg makhan palakwala which has garden fresh spinach and fenugreek incorporated in the classic butter chicken to an ingenious keema kaleji featuring minced mutton stirred in sautéed liver – the options are multifarious and delicious.
