Narmada restaurant has restyled itself as a speciality Awadhi and Mughlai restaurant which offers an authentic North Indian experience. The décor reminds one of Nawabi grandeur where the walls of the restaurant are adorned with paintings of paalkis and canopies used by the nawabs of Avadh. As you enter, you know you are going to get a different experience in Narmada. The plates, glass and side plates and even the cutlery is made of Bell Metal which was used traditionally by Indians for centuries for preparing and serving food. Using bell metal utensils is said to be good for health. The food served here will make you want to lick your fingers. The menu is limited but do not let that stop you. The menu is engraved on a wooden flat board, on both sides. Different and classy. Begin with Ananas Ka Panna, which is made of pineapple as the name suggests. Kababs here are a must try. You should definitely try either the Galauti Kebabs or the Kakori Kababs. Vegetarians should opt for Khoya Khubani Kababs. Try Khada Makai Palak and Dal-e-Khas, if you are a vegetarian. In fact, both vegetarians and non-vegetarians should try the Dal-e-Khas, which is Ma ki Dal. It is delicious. Non-vegetarians should not miss Murg Rejala, Nihari Gosht or Rogan Josh. Biryanis here is both authentic and also very tasty, vegetarian and non-vegetarian variety.
I recently had dinner with our companies guest at Narmada restaurant and strongly recommend it's amritsari kulchas. My guest was also amazed with the food quality. Suprisingly this restaurant had the option of having tender coconut as drink with food very rare thing.
This restaurant is one of the 2 restaurants of Hotel Ummed Ahmedabad. It's located very close to the airports and is a convenient place to have dinner if you are heading to the airport. This restaurant is north indian cuisine only and the ambience and the music compliments that very nicely. They even had live Hindustani music and the staff are quite courteous and friendly. The food is very good and quantity of the portions are good. Must visit if you are looking for having dinner nearby to the airport.
If you need a quiet place to meet just before taking a flight - this is it. Cool and pleasant - they also serve reasonably decent cold coffee etc. Waiters bit raw, but good hearted.
This is the signature Indian restaurant at the Ummed hotel. It has a nice decor and large seating. It has live singers who sing local melodies. The food is North Indian traditional but it has Gujarati dishes too.I enjoyed the kadhi with rice and mutton curry with a fresh roti from the clay oven.A good experience
I visited Narmada first time and needless to say that I was impressed with the service you get from the doorman at the gate of the hotel. I asked the way and I was escorted personally by a gentlemen . The restaurant is Indian and the decor , look and feel , table setup, cutlery and crockery says it all. The ambience is excellent and the live singers are good . I ordered adraki murgh shorba and I would recommend this to everyone who visits this place. Other dishes are great too but what stands out is the service and professional staff . I had a chance to meet the F&B head named Avirup and the guy was true professional and very knowledgeable . I love the engagement of the staff with guests in very friendly and professional manner which is very rare to find in this city. The guy who took care of our table(sorry I forgot the name) was great and very efficient. Overall I would highly recommend this place . A must visit if you are looking for a five star experience.
