Another new kid on the block for Indiranagar, this one focuses on seafood and offers a range of it in a multitude of ways. Most of the seafood is on display, and you can make a choice of dishes and even take a peek at the chef preparing your dish for you. Most of the starters and soups go down the Indo-Chinese way. So you can try the 'Lemon Chilli Coriander Soup' or the 'Exotic Clear Noodle Soup' to which you can add your choice of meat and vegetables. Among the starters, you can opt for the 'Chilli Coriander Paneer', the XO Spicy sauce seafood. All of the options in soups and starters can be had in seafood or vegetarian versions. Now coming to the seafood, you can opt to have your fish done in the tandoor or on a lava stone. Indian and western marinade options are what you will find on the menu. You can opt to have your seafood in the 'Classic Hariyali Masala' – of mint, chilli and coriander, or the 'Amritsari', which has yogurt, carom seeds and dried pomegranate – paired with fish like seer and Pomfret, these masalas would do well. If you would like to go down the more tried and tested route – then the 'Prawns in Raw Mango Curry' is a good bet. The 'Kumarakom Curry with Kokum' pairs really well with 'Boiled Ponni Rice'. And the 'Pepper Roast Masala' is a nice option with 'Kal Dosa'. Currently, the restaurant has only a wine license, so that will be your choice of beverage with the seafood.
We had made a visit to the restaurant on 29/08/2019 for a business lunch break with colleagues and guest. The first and foremost surprising point was the restaurant ground floor where we preferred to sit was totally empty, not a single guest seen at 2:45pm. Till we preferred to move ahead and order food, wherein the courtesy extended by the staff on briefing about the restaurant specialty and process of ordering was done . Further to this our guests went ahead to select the orders - obvious sea foods - fishes. On receipt of the food we were surprised to find that the quality of the food is not at all upto the mark - the key reason being the fish items where not at all fresh - ice stacked stale and the preparation was also of inferior quality. The prices of the products are with a simple roti - costing Rs75 is costly indeed to get the standard and recognition of a star restaurant. Not a good experience at all, value for money is low indeed
If you are a seafood lover then I would strongly suggest you to have a Sunday lunch at The Marina. You can choose from a variety of fish and prawns. You should try prawns lasooni and prawns curry with steamed rice. The amritsari fish is outstanding and so are the prawn sukkha. A must visit restaurant. This was my 4th lunch here.
Excellent seafood. One can choose the seafood that they want cook from the display layed out and have it cooked the way they want. The food is very very tasty. The staff are very courteous and friendly and help to make the correct choices of food, according to individual tastes, if one is not sure what to order. Nice ambiance, clean, well light and airy. A definite place to visit if you like sea food. The fish fry, prawn in coconut curry and payasam are really worth trying.
It's a lovely place to have sea food, amazing concept ..get to pick your fish and cook for you..place n service is excellent and quite reasonable, definelty recommend if you look see food.
I've visited the restaurant a few times now with family and I must say this has got to be the best sea food restaurant I've had the pleasure of dining at in Bangalore. The fish, prawns and lobster are always perfectly cooked. Never had the typical "Indian overcooked seafood" experience there so that is a great blessing. While majority of the seafood preparations are Indian influenced, the masalas do not interfere with the inherent flavour of the fish, prawns or lobster. The other European/Asia preparations are delightful. Prices are quite reasonable for the top quality. They are not overpriced is what I mean. For those who love seafood - if you haven't visited The Marina yet, you're really missing out on a culinary experience. At the end, with the bill, they serve you delectable peppermints that are pink rose coated but very mildly rose flavoured. We tasted them the first time with much apprehension (Rose flavours do tend to evoke such apprehension) but were bowled by the subtleness of the rose and the serving was polished off by us in seconds! The service is fantastic and the stewards are well trained. Every time we were there we asked them to recommend us one new preparation to our "usual" orders and we've never been disappointed.
The Marina is a Casual Dining located at Indiranagar, East Bengaluru. It specializes in Multicuisine cuisine. The food served here never fails to impress its diners.
The cost for two is expensive but goes well with the food quality and service it provides.
