Tao Terraces is split into 2 places – a nice, upmarket dining space as you enter the restaurant and a rooftop bar and lounge area as well. Both sections see an immense demand, particularly over the weekends. You can opt for the buffet if you want an indulgent meal when at the mall. Or can take time to peruse their a la carte menu. What I appreciated was that it did not take an overly long time for the food to get to the table despite a full house for the buffet. Now for your starters, you can definitely try from the range of dumplings, - vegetarian or meat. The 'XO Seafood Dumpling', 'Pork Gyoza' and the 'Three Mushrooms, Leeks, Water Chestnuts, Lotus Stem Dumpling'. Sushi lovers can opt for the platter which has a good mix of Maki and Nigiri. The Appetizers section has a large selection of pan-Asian dishes – 'The Pan Roasted Pork Belly with Fresh Red Chilli' and Bell Pepper', the simple flavours of the Ojingeo Bokkeum, or stir-fried squid and the Lemongrass Jumbo Prawns strike all the right notes. For the vegetarians, the 'Wild Mushroom Glass Noodles Spring Rolls', The 'Hot Basil Tofu with Bird’s Eye Chilli' and the 'Crispy Lotus Stem and Water chestnuts' will give you all the crunch you are looking for. The 'Vietnamese Pho' will make a nice meal for one here. Getting into main courses, there is a lot to choose from in fish, meat and poultry – the sautéed prawn with lemongrass, fresh basil and chilli vegetables, the 'Teriyaki Chicken with Sauteed Broccoli', the Hawker Style chicken with young ginger and star anise. The 'Thai Curries in Red, Yellow and Green' are good bets too. There is a range of rice and noodles to pair this with. For desserts the 'Jaggery Pancake with Honey and Coconut' is good.
Whenever you are in confusion as to where to head for a nice dinner to beat the mid-week blues, we suggest ‘The Tao Terraces’. The restaurant is wonderfully designed with a serene vibe so any ruffled feathers are instantly soothed after couple of minutes of you entering it. It is one of the loveliest restaurants in the city, made all the more attractive by clever lighting and cosy romantic nooks. From its perch on the fifth floor of 1MG Mall the restaurant gets an amazing view of Bengaluru city. The Tao Terraces offers the perfect mood setting for a party. Just consult with the management and they will get you a good deal. An invigorating ambience created by generic lounge music is quite uplifting. Overall, a great dining option for a cosy dinner with loved ones.
Pan Asian cuisine is normally our safe bet when we are in need of a comforting wholesome food. At The Tao Terraces Restaurant the chef prepares a menu that embraces a wide expanse of Pan Asian fare covering Thai, Japanese, Korean, Burmese and Chinese cuisines. Sip on a boozy drink before tackling the first course starting with the dim sums for they are the best part of any Pan Asian menu. Munch on, prawn hargow, pork ribs dumpling, corn kernel water chestnut dumpling, chicken khote, treasure vegetable dumpling, chicken sui mai and seafood with wild ginger & kaffir lime. There are also starters like, maki roll, sushi, smoked pork ribs, spring rolls, chili mayo calamari and tori katsu. Second level looks like, steamed fish with three flavoured sauce, pad kaprow guy, mixed vegetable with tofu in chili coriander sauce and Korean bulgogi.
Lick your spoon clean of mango ice cream or dig into more scrumptious sweet fare like, hot chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream, walnut toffee with vanilla ice cream, five spice scanned steamed white Belgian chocolate & corn kernel baoji and jaggery pan cake with honey & coconut. Décor at Tao Terraces reminds one of exclusive Asian clubs with dark intimate interiors and strong Asian vibe. Dining area is dimly lit throwing parts of room in shadows so you have a feeling of seclusion, an attractive prospect for couples. If possible sit in their outdoor area for a romantic exotic dining experience. The Tao Terraces is expensive, watch out for that.
What works best with ‘The Tao Terraces Restaurant’ on 1 MG Mall is the ambience or if you want us to be more specific, its outdoor seating area. Couples will find the spot really pretty and can spend hours for a Special Occasion enjoying the beautiful scene aglow with mood lighting. Indoors are stunningly designed as well but the outdoor area steals the show. Menu is entirely Asian and is prepared authentically. Bond over dim sums or your favorite Asian dishes while taking in the amazing Bengaluru view from their rooftop perch.
