If you have dined in the Gujarati restaurants of Chennai, Amdavadi Gujarati restaurant will almost leave you in a culture shock. Far away from the crowded and sweaty Gujarati Thali restaurants, Amdavadi is a breath of fresh air, with its café like interiors, friendly and unhurried service, set in a small but eclectic house in T Nagar. The menu is focused and has all the staples and no surprises, except a good one with the price. For the perceived eclectic setting, the price appears to be a steal. The soft and thin 'Khandvi' can entice any diner and will certainly not disappoint a Gujarati. For the uninitiated, you have both the Rice and the Channa Dhoklas, both served with sweet and green chutneys. Most main courses are plated and served as a complete single-dish meal without you having to order two different dishes.
