Spacious and elegant, the natural light just adds to the charm of this beautiful café located in Holiday Inn. The buffet spread is an elaborate one making it one of the best in the cities. The place is popular for its early breakfast buffet and the massive spread it serves. The variety of bread and the lavish dessert spread is sure to take you in a dreamland.
It is so upsetting to see such a big hotel chain expanding their group, and opening hotels so fast and so much worldwide without giving regard to quality. We had a bad experience at the restaurant at the beach in InterContinental Mahabalipuram Chennai once. That is fine... these things happen. And the marketing people apologized. They wanted to make up and didn't want us to have a bad image of InterContinental, so served us a good dinner, and all that. But we were thoroughly mistaken. Some days later, we went to Holiday Inn at (SRP Tools junction) Old Mahabalipuram Road, Chennai for lunch. It was worse than a fish market. Are we at HolidayInn? We had to ask ourselves more than once during our time there. As we entered, we saw that the restaurant was almost full, but there were a couple of tables empty. We were asked to wait. I informed the waiter that I was very hungry. It took sometime... and finally we were given the same table which had been empty and already set... all this time! As we sat twiddling our thumbs, there was no one coming to give the menu or take our order, or (hold your breath!) even serve us water. After making a little noise, we got someone to take our order. The food came, but part of it was wrong order! Another waiter came over and didn't even understand that they had served us the wrong dish. And then the chef had to come over, apologize and replace the dish.... all this took quite sometime and my hunger had vanished! Yes, the floor manager did come and apologize, but the damage had been done. To top it all, a girl came up to our table, blissfully unaware of the happenings and asked us if we had had a good time! All we could do was laugh. But we were discussing and contemplating whether it was worth continuing our relationship with the InterContinental group, whether we should take a rain check every time we thought of going out and ensure that it wasn't a hotel belonging to this group! That was what this experience gave us!! Looks like they are out to give us a bad time even if we don't feel like visiting them.... We had opted out of receiving whatsapp messages that were related to marketing. But... We received a call today... picked it up thinking someone was calling to apologise for having given us a bad time. That was too optimistic.... it was a marketing call to tell us about a food festival in the Mahabalipuram hotel!! We realized that it was pointless to explain our frustrations. Sad, but the impression we get from this big, corporate hotel group is... they're all talk and no stuff! To make things worse... we wrote to the corporate office of IHG... Silence! Looks like they do not take customer feedback seriously.
