Hues of amber from the elegant chandeliers shimmy off mirrored ceilings, at Jamavar in the regal Leela Palace. A longitudinally focused Indian menu seems inspired in equal parts from the stalwarts. Contrary to the restaurant's adulation for Dal Jamavar and Raan, South Indian dishes are noticeably better than the North Indian fare. Food from Kerala stands out on the menu – the Allepey fish curry and karimeen pollichathu are excellent. Jamavar does fit the bill when you want to splash out for a flashy Indian meal, without having to straightjacket through regional cuisine.
Awesome, gorgeous using lot of Kashmiri herbs especially Guchi stuff in main course.. after saffron it is one of the costliest vegetarian ingredient. In addition to it their Malai Kofta... size of Lawn tennis ball koftas dipped in gravy which is full of saffron... Amazing taste
We went to celebrate our special day to Jamavar , the lower lobby level restaurant at leela palace . It was crowded, nevertheless restaurant manager and Chef assisted us , as we have some dietary restrictions. Food and the choices in menu is something the highlighted part of the restaurant. It was well decorated, perfectly suiting for ambience of the spl. day. Got compliments by a cake at the end of meal..Good experiences, will definitely recommend.
We asked to book a table at around 21h40, they said in 10 minutes as they full were. We came a bit earlier, some tables were free but undressed. That was not the problem. First someone from the Staff came to us (manager?) and ask us to wait outside, the way he did it was not really friendly. Then he came to us and apologized, that was ok. But after he brought us to a table far away from the center if the room where there were 3 or 4 free tables. We felt like he wanted to hide us behind in a corner, totally cut from the room. We did not understand, it was so nice in the middle, alive, and we could just sit far away. We asked ourself what he could hide, we were so chic, quiet normal. Maybe 2 men in a table is still a problem in this restaurant ? We felt so uncomfortable, we left and went upstairs to the restaurant upstair « spectra », there they are more friendly! We are so disappointed ! We came to India the first time, because it’s not anymore a crime to in couple with the same sex, but in this restaurant we felt so unwelcome like they still not understand the the law changed! Very disappointed.
We came to celebrate the new year eve in a Indian restaurant for the best taste.. famous for the authenticity Leela palace , special Indian restaurant.. a lavish new year eve menu .. great decor and grand celebrations.. We will definitely come bk sometimes in future to experience those real tastes again ..
I really enjoyed my dinner at the Jamavar. The food was excellent, the service great. What could have been improved was the attention to me as a solo guest. I was curious about the cuisine since I haven’t had southern Indian food yet, so I asked some questions. I would have expected more detailed explanations and guidance through the menu. This didn’t do much harm to my experience though. When the main I ordered was “out of stock”, the waiter suggested a really tasty alternative, which I really liked. All in all, a very good experience.
