Hues of amber from the elegant chandeliers shimmy off mirrored ceilings, at Jamavar in the regal Leela Palace. A longitudinally focused Indian menu seems inspired in equal parts from the stalwarts. Contrary to the restaurant's adulation for Dal Jamavar and Raan, South Indian dishes are noticeably better than the North Indian fare. Food from Kerala stands out on the menu – the Allepey fish curry and karimeen pollichathu are excellent. Jamavar does fit the bill when you want to splash out for a flashy Indian meal, without having to straightjacket through regional cuisine.
