Prolific restaurateur, M Mahadevan brings the untamed fire and spice of Andhra cuisine with Mana Andhra. If you are here for a full meal, then the thalis are a no-brainer; but be warned, Mana Andhra does not hold back on the spices. Weekend lunches can get noisy and a bit chaotic with the service lagging behind in refill orders; it is a good idea to go early.
Food is tasty, good service, though food is little spicy compared to other restaurants. You also can buy Andhra pickles here.
The restaurant was neat and clean. We selected Raju Gari Bhojanam, a andhra style thali meals. All the food items were served in silvery plates and bowls and cutlery. The taste was more than standard. We enjoyed the fare. The serving staff were courteous. The place seems to be well patronised. Price was a bit high.
We went there for Telugu new year and had a feast! We took the king's thali and finished it completely. I loved all the sabzis. Better not to have a big breakfast before going here because otherwise you won't be able to finish your plate and that would be a pity considering the good food quality. Service could be improved but was fine overall.
Average Andhra food. Definitely, there are much better Andhra cuisine restaurants in Chennai at a better price. Rice for the meals was not so warm. Overall, the food was not so tasty. The ladies finger fries was alone very good.
Visited this place with a bunch of good friends and few of us are core non vegetarians.... Went for lunch.... Easy to find located in knk road and have vallet parking.... Place is good and interiors designed with authentic Telugu podis.... Menu is simple and has good varieties.... Ordered for meals... And started ordering for nice non veg sides... However any sides we order the waiter mentioned it is part of the meals.. was curious to know what all is there in the meals... Meals finally arrived... It had poori and chicken biryani... In sides it had mutton chukka, chicken kozhambu, egg fry, fish fry.... Apart from this rice gets served.... There are variety of podis that we can taste along with rice.... Everything tasted really well.... It's a delight for non vegetarians.... You get to eat all your favourite dishes in one go... The best place I have been in a long time... And definitely the best Andhra food.... A must visit place for non vegetarians...
Andhra cuisine is vastly underrated. Not only is it immensely flavourful and tangy, it’s quite versatile as well. It’s one of the fiercest cuisines there is. The red chilli is responsible for giving it that powerful flavour and that striking colour which instantly attracts the eyes. After one bite of Andhra cuisine, you are bound to fan your mouth in an effort to cool down. Yes, it’s that hot! Food of Andhra originated from the kitchens of Nawab where the food got its exoticness from. The same kind of magic can be seen at your table itself, right here at ‘Mana Andhra’ in Chennai. The restaurant is located in the trendy lanes of Nungambakkam on Khader Nawaskhan Road. It’s a huge favourite of the local food mongers who like to lick their spoons clean of the spicy curries and rich aromatic biryanis.
Mana Andhra is the brainchild of passionate restauranteur M Mahadevan, who is especially enthusiastic with his Andhra curries, making them spicier and completely authentic. He reflects his passion through the décor too by choosing a classy foil to present this colourful fiery cuisine. The interiors are on the effortless side with subtle coloured walls and rich striking décor to add some much needed dimension. Smart modern chairs are thrown in at discreet distance so you can sit comfortably with your company without overhearing the fellow conversations. Cosy booths are included too for relaxation and privacy. On the walls notice the regional art in peppy colours that brings in the local southern flavour to the scene. Overall, you will find Mana Andhra to be a stunning surprise.
What you will like about Mana Andhra is the affordability. It’s very budget-friendly and totally value for money. The menu comprises of mouth-watering fare of Andhra and Hyderabad. It’s diverse and delectably yummy so indulge freely. If you feel confused then stick to the thalis which will offer you a wide selection of delicacies. The well curated menu kicks off with starters like, paaya shorba, warangai guntuku kodi, kamju pitta vepudu, podi punugulu, velnchina royyalu, goddukaram puttagodugulu, kheema punugulu, makkai ka ras and mirapakaya bhajji. Pair the curries with a paratha or biryani. Sample curries like, kothimeera vankaya, seema chops, dappalam, naatu kodi koora, tomato pappu, Chapala pulusu, totakoora peethalu and bommidalla pulusu. End with lauki ka kheer or khubani ka meetha.
