The Godfather theme and loud pop music are sure-shot giveaways; The Padrino is decidedly more fun, than fine, Italian dining. Cheerful, airy ambience and an attached gelateria complete the millennial-focused premise. The mainstream Italian-bistro fare however, is much less remarkable.
It says it serves authentic Italian. Of course one can only take their word for it...we tried the barbecue chicken pizza which was delicious and it's beef steak that exceeded our expectations. Had the icecream for dessert which was great. Will definitely visit it again.
I was told this place is known for its pizzas. They were average at best. I asked the server to recommend a spicy chicken pizza , he suggested something which wasnt spicy at all . On the contrary it had mayo spread on top which made it sweeter . We doused our slices with chilli flakes and tobasco . The momos however were great . Nicest i have had in chennai. The service staff is amazing , very proactive
Good food and good ambience, variety of ice creams & Gelato.. but the lasgna was awful. No grilled cheese but a lump of flour! This should have changed. Hope the chef will look into it..
We have been there twice, its reasonable and good taste. 30" pizza was just apt for the group of 6 people with assorted slices. Taste was Italian with thin crust and Yummy.
Good appetizers. Tried the sizzler instead of the pizza but the pepper sauce was bland and disappointing. Good range of gelato for after dinner. Service was quick.
Wonders of Italian food never gets to cease. The cuisine is a complete one in itself filled with spectacular flavours that have established their way into our culinary culture firmly. So much so that numerous Italian restaurants have opened their doors to enthusiastic diners in the past few years and each restaurant is a wonderful addition. Joining the ranks of success is ‘The Padrino’, a lively Italian bistro with an interesting décor and an upbeat ambience. The place is located at PS Sivaswami Salai in Mylapore which is pretty accessible to the locals. Italian food is much loved by the local crowd, a fact evident by the variety of Italian food available in the market. No matter how tight your pockets are be assured you will be able to afford The Padrino easily. The bistro is quite reasonable. The Padrino tries to recreate the magic of Italy right here in Chennai.
Sticking with the idea of unique concepts, The Padrino dabbles into the typical Italian theme of The Godfather and plays with it. If you are a movie buff then you must be aware of the classic. The theme is a fun one and is well used in every corner of the restaurant. Cute illustrations are created for the walls and are an interesting study while you are waiting for your order to arrive. Stressed exposed brick wall is mounted with a chalkboard menu displaying the treats on offer. Cosy booths are tucked into one side of the restaurant while the other side is dotted with formal chairs and tables. The ambience is artsy, casual, creative and fun. Their regulars love their fun concept even more due to their delicious menu.
The Padrino tempts one’s palate with a full-fledged authentic Italian menu. Variety is endless here so you will be spoilt for choices. As antipasti they present, tempura vegetables, bruschetta Napoli, crostone with vegetables, sea food calamari fritti, insalata mista, onion soup, arancini, tortino di porri and cheese chilli toast. The bistro’s main course is a delightful composition of fabulous delicacies such as, gnocchi sorrentina, risotto al funghi, tagliatelle di manzo, agnello alla griglia, burgers, piccante cotto, enchiladas and burritos. Range of pizzas is exhaustive and they also prepare 30-inches pizzas as a major crowd puller. Dabble into their gelateria to sample their fresh gelatos or pick a dessert off the menu.
