We were looking for a quiet, authentic setting that was off the beaten path and Hotel Tripuí exceeded our expectations. The setting is gorgeous, with majestic mountain views and a colorful well-tended garden that attracts a lot of birds and butterflies. We enjoyed the nearby burros braying in the morning and running to greet us (the sign says they bite!) and the hotel’s 4-legged mascot, Canela, is a delight. The food was surprisingly good (try the fish tacos) and breakfast is included in the price. We had the same three options each day, but all were good. I love the fresh-squeezed orange juice. Attentive staff brought food and drinks to us poolside; we had the whole pool area to ourselves. We like the close proximity to the marina (great rooftop restaurant, BTW) and Rattlesnake Beach. I highly recommend hiking up Hale Peak (look for the white rocks marking the trailhead en route to the marina) and down to the beach, about 45 minutes one way. Tabor/Steinbeck Canyon on the other side of Hwy 1 is also worth seeing with incredible geology and pools of water. One note: the sparrows are nesting in the thatch roof on the second floor, so if you are not an early riser, get a ground floor room. The sparrows are up before 7 AM, which we enjoyed but some may not. WiFi is a little slow and not much English is spoken here, but these are minor inconveniences. A rental car is a good idea as the hotel shuttle is sporadic and expensive. We will gladly make Hotel Tripuí our home next time we’re in beautiful Loreto.
We rented the whole resort, four apartments, and two casitas for our group this year. Our group consists of singles, couples, and families with children or multiple ages. New this year, Tripui put on a Clam Show for us, showing us what hospitality in the Baja has been like for many generations. We truly felt like honored guests! Jose did a great job of explaining the history and meaning as they lit the pit on fire and the clams baked We did a great job of eating the clams in tortillas with special sauce - yum! Every year we have noticed that the resort has made improvements. This year the rooms all had flat panel TVs. There are not many channels available, but you could plug in your computer to show a DVD. The restaurant has undergone some nice remodeling, and the food was great for the group. I had two dinners in the restaurant before the group arrived, and I particularly liked the fish with lime sauce. The chicken in mole was also excellent!
I was trying to make it to la Paz but a busted down truck stopped me! What a great find. Hotel Loreto wouldn’t take Max so Max and I had a great room Hotel Tripuí. And talk about a great dinner and Breakfast! Just a gorgeous, friendly tasty pet friendly hotel! We’ll be back!
Our group of 50+ persons returned here again for our week at Tripui. We had a great experience. We love the rooms, chef, staff, location, setting and more. The staff did a great job working with us. We hope to be back again.
I visited Loreto in July with my family and had the pleasant opportunity of staying at the Hotel Tripui located in Puerto Escondido, Loreto, BCS for a week. The hotel has beautiful scenery and it’s location is one to admire. The hotel rooms are very clean and quite spacious. The workers are all very nice and respecting to those who do not speak Spanish. The hotel has a very nice restaurant/ bar. The food is delicious and includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The hotel has beautiful and very well managed shrubbery, trees, and flowers. The pool is clean and very well taken care of. I am very glad I had the opportunity to enjoy my trip while staying at this beautiful snippet of paradise!
