In the middle lane of khan market, New Delhi lies a small sweet restaurant that serves traditional Mexican cuisine. The stairs to the restaurant is tiled with beautiful Mexican design tiles. The restaurant itself is simply furnished with unassuming furniture and reflects a rustic feel. Resembling a Mexican villa the walls of the restaurant are painted with regional drawings that reproduces Mexican life. The books on the shelf with fruits and live plants add something to the restaurant’s image. Open kitchen has a menu blackboard running on the top portraying the dishes of the day. The restaurant is light and airy flooded with loads of sunlight. The chef has amazing skills with knife so you won’t regret choosing La bodega. The food is sensational and a riot of colours on plate.

No Mexican menu is ever complete without including tacos, quesadillas, tostadas, taquitos and salsa. Mexicans invented nachos so go crazy with salsa for La bodega makes salsa more than one way. Slow cooked black beans with tortilla chips, pumpkin & shrimp soup and fragrant cold avocado soup warms the heart with true soul food. Duck breast served with mixed greens and seafood salad remains fresh and crispy throughout the meal. The sandwiches has the filling of pulled pork, arugala & goat’s cheese, sliced ham and smoked salmon. The other mains on the menu are jumbo shrimp with puffed pastry, lamb chops, half roast chicken, enchiladas, tortillas with mushrooms and white wine, pepper crusted seabass fillet with white bean puree. The sides are pretty great too. Corn on the cob, potato cake with garlic cream, mushrooms cooked with garlic, refried black beans and Mexican rice cooked with tomato puree.

La bodega serves coffee and desserts in between meal times so if you want a little quiet time than stop by. Do not miss dessert for the chef of la bodega has trained as patissier in paris so his desserts are sublime. It’s literally a rite of passage to eat churros with hot chocolate sauce when in a Mexican bodega. They are crispy soft doughnuts dunked in chocolate sauce. Cake made with three milks comes highly recommended. Chocolate and tequila tart is very Mexican too. Overall la bodega at khan market is a memorable experience with great service and inexpensive food.
