If you ask venture capitalists and private equity experts to name a mini-chain of mid-priced restaurants they are happy with, it is nearly always Mamagoto they name. And with good reason. When the first Mamagoto opened in Delhi’s Khan Market around a decade ago, it was the pioneer in the Pan-Asian space offering high quality and largely authentic dishes at attractive prices. It helped that the restaurant was bustling and cheerful and the vibe was happy. Mamagoto has since expanded outside of Khan Market and all over India but the basic principles have not varied: good food, a great vibe, efficient service and affordable prices. It’s success demonstrates that a commitment to quality always yields results. No wonder investors regard it as the chain to emulate!
The food was totally excellent ...the service was outstanding and one must try their black bean sauce with rice and hua hin highway rolls....orange nomojito...
Loved the food and service! Naresh was fantastic in helping with the food and drinks!! Enjoyed everything, specially the panang curry and lettuce/chicken with hot sauce!! Delicious!!
We picked this restaurant by chance and glad we did! The food is incredibly good, 5 star service and courtesy from the staff. Before I leave Delhi I definitely want to go back one more time, I highly recommend this place.
This is an amazing little gem. Staff is very attentive to your needs, great suggestions on an extensive menu selection. Only disappointment was the beer selection as they didn’t have 3 of the beets in the menu. Food was served promptly and was delicious.
The food was very mixed - the stir fried vegetables seemed to be made with leftover vegetables and had a strange taste. The calamari and the chicken dumplings were good. The fried lotus stem was quite tasteless. The sticky rice was overcooked. The restaurant is really noisy and whilst service was good there are far too many waiters for the size of the restaurant and they seem uncoordinated. The bill was 3500 for three, which I thought was expensive given the quality.
Once I heard someone say whenever she misses Bangkok she visits Mamagoto at select city, Saket, Delhi. This quirky yet casual restaurant has forever changed the face of pan Asian cuisine. The food is out of this world delicious proven by the long queues at lunch hour. The joint is done up in their signature colour yellow with oriental pattern wallpapers. The use of Japanese illustrations adds some authenticity to the place while using quintessential bamboo sketches as background. Wall arts are attractive and amusing looking with pop colours. The view from the restaurant of the mall below adds to another world dimension. The restaurant is well lit making the yellow pop out more. The staff is attentive and music energetic. If you are on a date or meeting try choosing some other place. Mamagoto is high energy and more in the lines of shopping break category.
Food is what speaks for mamagoto. It is what pulls back the loyal customers all the time. Their wok tossed section is long. They have meat, seafood, vegetarian, chicken, fried, steamed categories. Crispy lotus stem, hot basil chicken cups, chicken wings, crispy chilli potato is in first page alone. Fried starters have things like spicy fried calamari, mixed vegetable tempura, corn fritter balls, rock shrimp tempura. Grill page has soya garlic robata, spiced Asian BBQ chicken breast, and street chicken satay. Grilled seafood/meat has its own components as well. So has steamed section. Asian soups and salads have lifelong fans. But what is most ordered is bowl. Mamagoto has bowls of rice/noodles with your chosen curry like a one pot meal. Teriyaki meal in a bowl is highly appreciated. A thai lost in hunan is another favourite with spicy thai lamb with a red curry flavour served on pad thai noodles. It has all the characteristics to become my favourite too. In curries mamagoto serves thai red/green curry with your chosen rice or noodles.
Mamagoto’s desserts have caramel sponge cake with toffee sauce, Nutella mousse, carrot cake and delicious homemade coconut and palm sugar ice cream. To drink non-alcoholic cleansers like wasabi mary, cocktails, mocktails, pitchers, beer, rum, whisky, wines are housed too. Mamagoto has making of an expensive restaurant but it isn’t so. In one thousand bucks you can stop missing Bangkok and take home some dumplings too. Win-win.
