The Shangri-La finally has a restaurant it can brag about. Tamra, in the old Oriental Avenue space on the first floor, is an all-day dining restaurant that overwhelms you with the variety of options available on the buffet. There’s good Japanese (an expat chef makes the sushi), hotel-style European, robust Indian, excellent tandoori, lots of East Asian and, in a refreshing change, home-style Indian cooked by a non-hotel chef. An À la carte menu offers more options but your best bet is the buffet where many dishes are prepared to order.
