Cheese, the smooth block of dairy goodness, is a magic ingredient. Whether nibbled raw, as part of a cheeseboard or warmed to silky perfection in fondue, cheese is the rich and unctuous component of every lip-smacking dish.  Cheese can be soft, oozy, mild, pungent, blue or crumbly, and is created from the milk of a variety of animals. Paired with fruit preserves, fresh fruit, roasted nuts, crostini and much more, cheese acquires a new dimension on a lavish cheese board. Similarly, the baked fare is taken to the next level when fine fromage is added to it. So, here is a round-up of restaurants that are concocting interesting recipes with top-of-the-line cheese so that there’s a bit of dairy paradise on your plate.

Olive Bar & Kitchen

The restaurant is celebrating fromage by including a variety of A-list cheese in its Sunday Brunch menu from October. On offer are canapés, featuring five-grain granola bar with goat’s cheese, hot croquettes with liquid parmesan, handmade roesti with molten raclette and more. For sugar addicts, there is sweet mignardises or bite-sized desserts for the sophisticated palate, featuring cheese from various corners of the globe. While chevre and 30% white chocolate would be served with cheesecake, blue cheese and 70% bittersweet dark chocolate would be paired with bonbons. To hike up the luxury quotient of your meal, quark cheese with clotted cream would be served with raspberry baci di dama (Italian hazelnut cookies) while Philadelphia cream cheese and caramelised milk would get teamed with pain de queso or Brazilian cheese bread. Expect to cap off your meal with gouda and cold brew coffee, that would be served with cannoli.

À Ta Maison Bistro

The restaurant, nestled in the quiet neighbourhood of Sunder Nagar, has a one-of-a-kind entry in its Appetisers and Salads section. On offer is Italian burrata, that’s served with maraschino cherries and truffled bread. A whole burrata comes to your plate and starts oozing a decadent mix of mozzarella and cream the moment your fork touches its delicate skin. Paired with salad leaves and cherries, the olive-oil drizzled burrata is truly heaven on your palate.

The All American Diner

The Mexican food festival, currently on at The All American Diner is giving the cheese a big thumbs up. Up for grabs are chicken tacos, where diced chicken and a trio of peppers are paired with Monterey Jack cheese. Lamb tacos, on the other hand, feature lamb mince, kidney beans, peppers and cheddar. Also giving your taste buds a Mexican joy ride are the restaurant’s enchilada offerings. There’s chicken enchilada where tortilla rolls are stuffed with gratinated spicy chicken, vegetables and mozzarella. Similarly, the barbeque chicken and cheddar quesadillas have rolled flour tortillas loaded with jalapeno, bell peppers, cheddar and tomato salsa.


Depot48 is using fromage in new and intriguing ways. You can sample their corn on the cob that’s dusted with paprika and parmesan. Or make a dive for the dining outfit’s chipotle-marinated chicken, jalapenos and cheese empanadas, where Monterey Jack cheese is pressed into use. Headlining the menu is the green apple, rocket and goat cheese quesadilla, which features top-notch goat cheese, while the mushroom and quinoa burger have melted gorgonzola with caramelised shallots.

Monkey Bar

Monkey Bar is turning on the heat when it comes to cheesy fare in the capital. The restaurant’s dedication to cheese can be observed in dishes like loaded nachos chicken, where tortilla chips are baked with molten cheese and beans. The dish is then topped with fresh tomato, jalapeno salsa, avocado, sour cream and spring onions. If you are at Monkey Bar, do not miss the poutine or French fries topped with cheese sauce, mushroom gravy and caramelised onions.
