Treat yourself to dishes from across India!

Several States in India celebrate their New Year this month – Poila Boisakh, Baisakhi, Ugadi, Bohag Bihu and so on. There are restaurants which give you an opportunity to taste the real flavours of that State. After all, every region in India boasts of unique cuisine, with distinctive flavours. Mumbai, being a melting pot of cultures, offers eating options galore and regional cuisine restaurants, too abound here. From Til Diya Murgi Mangxo to Koraishutir Kochuri and Alu Dum and Green Saiyal Chicken to Punjabi Kadhi Chawal, you can gorge on them all. Some places host special pop-ups or a limited period food festival, while others have special dishes on their regular menu. These are my top 5 picks.

With the Sindhi New Year round the corner, Punjab Grill, is hosting, ‘Sindh Da Swad’ food festival until April 14. Chef Jyoti Vishnani has curated a special menu to give you a glimpse of the best. While the BKC outlet offers a lunch buffet and a la carte at dinner, the Kala Ghoda outlet serves only a la carte dishes at both meals.

Sindhi Kadi

Bhugal Mutton

The starters include Sai Bhaji Dodda, Mutton Kheema Patties, while the mains include Sindhi Kadi, Tidali Daal, Deg Wari Bhaji, Green Saiyal Chicken, Bhugal Mutton and more.

This April, expert Chef's from the kitchens of The Lalit come together for one big celebration, 'Flavours of Baisakhi'. The festival spreads out authentic recipes of Punjab to you at our award-winning pan-Indian restaurant Baluchi until April 21st.

Timings: Lunch - 12:30 to 03:00 pm | Dinner - 07:00 pm to 11:45 pm.

Kangan, at Westin Mumbai Garden City, dedicates every Saturday in April 2019 to the Punjabi Thali as a part of its focus on regional cuisines. The thali will include Punjabi Keema Mutter Sirhind, Aloo Wadiyan Di Sukhi Subzi, Pindi Chole, Ma Choliyan Di Dal, Kukkad Di Khurchan and Gulab Jamun Te Rabdi. It will be on offer from 12:30 pm on all the four Saturdays in April, and while the Vegetarian Thali will be priced at Rs 1,299 plus taxes, the Non-Vegetarian one will be priced at Rs 1,499 plus taxes.

Priyangi and Joyee of O'Tenga bring you the authentic flavours of Assam through this meal experience on Bohag Bihu, the onset of the Assamese New Year. From pork cooked with bamboo shoots to the fiery Bhoot Jalokia Chillies and Lau Bilahi Tenga-Fish, to the vegetarian delights like Guti Alu (Baby potatoes from Assam) this meal gives you a glimpse of the wonderful and mystical world of Assamese cuisine.

Fret not, if there are no Bengali food festivals on in the city. Peetuk, offers you simple, home-style Bengali fare to satiate your palate. From Egg Devil to Mutton Tikka Biryani and Kosha Mangsho with Luchi to Mughlai Porotha, you can have them all right here in Mumbai. Vegetarians can relish the Jhoori Aloo Bhaja and Shukto. Round off that lip-smacking meal with Mishti and Bengali Chatni.
