Healthy or not, I think we all agree that a well-made burger is an absolute delight to eat. One would think it is not as complicated as it seems – bread, some lettuce, a patty and cheese all slapped together and voila! Sadly there is a little more skill required. It is a popular dish that you would find on most menus and possibly in every casual café, but the real question is, if they do it right. Instead of trying your luck aimlessly searching for a good burger, hop into any one of these restaurants and we guarantee you won't be disappointed. Here is our pick of some restaurants in the city that serve some amazing burgers.
Hard Rock Cafe – At one time, this was one of the few places that really did justice to a burger and they still do. Not only do you get served a healthy sized burger fully loaded but you also get a mountain of French fries and some greens to go with it. The section dedicated to burgers is extensive but a worthy mention is their famous Hickory “Barbecue Bacon Cheese Burger” that comes with barbeque sauce, smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato and caramelized onions and it is terrific.
Crave Burgers – Crave is a relatively new eatery but serves some amazing comfort food. Pizzas, sandwiches and crispy fries aside, it is their burger selection that has us drooling. While our personal favourite is their lamb based burger aptly titled “The Knockout” their “Fungi Town" which is a mushroom and ricotta based patty served with caramelized onions, yellow cheddar and truffle mayo, takes vegetarian burgers to a whole new level.
Woodside Inn – It would be hard to have a list of burger joints and not include the one restaurant that is known for their annual legendary burger festival. They really celebrate and embrace their burgers with a month dedicated to various types of burgers from around the world and paired with different beers. While those are specially made for the festival, on any regular day pop in and pick from their selection but we strongly recommend "The Woodside” burger.
Desi Deli – This is one of Bandra's cutest outlets. While the emphasis is on hotdogs and those are the hot sellers, it is hard to not include them in this list because they serve some very interesting burgers as well. They serve a “Tangy Chic Burger” which is their take on a chicken 65 as well as a crunchy corn, feta and potato burger. The best, however, is their “Lush Lamb burger” served with cheddar, grilled apples and red mayo. All burgers are served with what they call 'doobla patla' (shoe string) fries, lettuce and fried onions.
