Insider Tips

  • Challenge lies in limited parking options
  • It is home styled service with no frills, so expect a ‘sussegado’ laid back approach adding to the overall charm

A hit and miss right outside the gates of Taj Holiday Village in Sinquerim is the cosy vibe of a restaurant in a Goan home. Avozin in Portuguese refers to Grandmother, and it is her recipes that are being followed. Hosted by a lovely family member, Lakshmi who also is an incredible chef, one gets to meet Jack the server and a friendly dog called Rocky. This is the Goan dream; of good food at affordable prices cooked with love and care. The affable Kevin who happens to be the owner took over from his mother and now runs this sought-after family run establishment. A must try is the Peri Peri Prawns and Ox tongue. For the vegetarians, the Mushroom Xacuti along with steamed rice hits the spot. The Goan sausage pulao is a crowd favourite so is the Fish Cutlets and Beef Green Curry. A great place for a no frills and a value for money meal.

Nice Shack

It's a nice place to have a pint of beer with some good food. The menu is huge with all type of cuisines to choose from and the service is good as well.

Visited Twice.

We visited twice in the evening, while we were on holiday in Goa. The food was delicious, the owner recommended dishes to us and we thoroughly enjoyed them. Well worth a visit or two, wishing you every success in the future. Neena and Stuart

lovely food

We ate twice during our stay in Goa. Staff were friendly and helpful. I would recommend the stuffed calamari, delicious. The chef came out and spoke with us and was so informative and passionate about his cooking explaining where he sourced all the local ingredients. Well worth going here. Another local restaurant, recommended to us from a local.
