The Bohri Muslims migrated from Yemen into Gujarat and then to other parts of India. As such, the cuisine has Middle Eastern and Gujarati influences. Eating from the thaal is a communal activity and is considered to be a symbol of unity, equality and sharing. This was the idea behind the Thaal concept by the affable Rumana - ideator, creator and host of your meal at her restaurant. Enter to be seated on the floor around the thaal - the star of the show. Each dish is served individually as a separate course and is placed at the centre of the thaal. The service concept is ‘take as much as you can consume’ and Each diner will serve him or herself. Take your portion and place it in the section of the thaal that is in front of you. The idea is a “no waste” policy, so diners are asked to only take as much as they can eat. The 7-course meal is decadent with inclusions of a sweet, salad, 2 starters another sweet and the main course that changes daily. From a wide array of delicacies - the 'Queema Khichadi', 'Kadi Chawal' and 'Mutton Khichra' are a sensory treat. For the sweet tooth, the 'Mango Ice cream' and 'Imli Ok Kulfi' is a delight. Sign off with the famous 'Paan'.
