Home-style cooking from the kitchens of Goa come in a modern avatar at The Goan Room in Dona Paula near the NIO circle. Enter the massive expanse of the caricatured walls spanning two levels. The décor is upbeat while you sit back and indulge in the Goan sunset- a cashew feni concoction drizzled with orange, pineapple and grenadine syrup. Refreshing. Sample a sip with the 'Fish Cutlet' and 'Prawn Dry Fry'. Freshness delivered in every bite. Paying ode to the lost recipes a must sample is the 'Tonak Bangda' - translated to a mackerel cooked on an open fire wrapped in banana leaf. The dangar is a traditional cutlet made out of prawns and gram flour. Portions are sizeable and sharing is recommended especially when you try the 'Butter Milk Fry Kalamari'. For lunch, the staple favorite is the 'Fish Thali' comprising of a heady serving of rice, fried fish, prawn curry, kismoor, kokum curry, tisryo sukhem and a goan bhaji served with salad. For the sweet tooth, look no further than the Crème Caramel.
