I had a day to wander during my last trip and ended up at Rogue. The bartender was awesome, and it was a slow day for him, so we chatted and played connect 4. The fried cauliflower was decent and the atmosphere was cool.
Biked to this pub, found Portland very bike friendly. We had the dead guy ale and is was very good. Had a happy hour burger for $6 and was the best burger on the whole month long trip. Our bartender, Joey, was awesome. The happy hour prices here were the best in the area. Would really recommend them, and don't forget to get a couple bumper stickers. The rogue was the best
Hopping spot with a strong beer list (surprise). Creative snacks and good staff. No surprise it is so popular.
Compared to the cozy ambiance of the Rogue brewery in Newport, this place feels closer to a cafeteria. Lost of hard surfaces for amplifying noise, minimal decoration, bright lighting. Rogue has some fantastic beers, including an impressive array of IPAs, but there are much nicer places to drink them.
There's a couple other breweries literally steps away, so make them all a destination if you're in town to visit some breweries. We only had a few drinks here, all of which were good. Typical Portland brewery-esq. They also have some picnic tables for outdoor seating which was nice.
