This restaurant in Radisson Blu Plaza Banjara Hills is among the popular Asian restaurants of Hyderabad, which was reopened after renovations in 2017. The place has about fifty covers and has the typical oriental décor in red and black. As you enter the place, you can not help but notice the prominent live kitchen with a teppan. The Japanese delights like 'Sushi' and 'Robatayaki' (grilled dishes) are highlights of this place. They also have interesting complete combo meals called 'Meal in a bowl'. Holy Basil serves a range of dim sums of which the 'Siu Mai' is particularly good. The 'Spicy Salmon Uramaki' stands out from the sushi preparations. The 'Burmese Khao Suey' broth, 'Wok Tossed Pork Spare Ribs in Hoisin Sauce' and 'Crispy Lamb Honey Chilly' are some other dishes of note. They make a good 'Tub Tim Krob', the Thai water chestnut and coconut milk based mildly sweet dessert.
One of the best Chinese food we have had in the last few years and the chef truly deserves an applause worth identifying the food as authentic.
My wife started with a Tom Yum Ka and it was nice to see the surprise on her face after the first taste, she loved it. After that we took the Holy Basil Peking Duck prepared on our table by chef Kamel and chef Chura, you see what we wrote one of the highlights of our India trip and whenever you stay in Hyderabad please try it. Thanks guys see you next time and of course many thanks of the nice team of bartenders. It’s a pleasure to stay at the Radisson Blu.
What an amazing place Holy Basil is, my husband and & I went for a meal at this restaurant & wanted to compliment not only the amazing food that was served but also the team spirit that made our experience extremely enjoyable. Our host Hemant & his team recommended several meal choices, each outdoing themselves in taste. What a wonderful afternoon we had & you'll not be disappointed if you were to visit. Simply wow!! Well done & may you continue to reign Holy Basil Hyderabad
Having read so many positive reviews of Holy Basil, at Radisson Blu, which serves Asian, Chinese, Thai and Japanese sushi cuisine, my son and I decided to go there for a light supper, as we were close by. This five star hotel, is not on the main road, but thanks to GPS we found it fast. Holy Basil is located on the lobby level of the Hotel, and its captivating, red and black decor and design in an Oriental theme is elegant. Good ambience. The bubby hostess Phiri, hope I got the name right, was all about the place in the beginning, as we were one of the first guests. The Jasmine tea and complimentary mini appetizers were good. I was really happy to order the Burmese NV dish, Khow Suey, a tasty dish prepared by my Maternal family and me, but was not really satisfied with my choice later on, when it was presented to us. The hostess, suggested a Yakimes NV rice, nothing exceptional to write about. Coming back to the Khow Suey, first of all it had to be served piping hot, as it was a soup. Secondly, the portion was too little. Usually, two bowls are served, one with a curry/soup liquid dish with lots of shredded chicken and many slices of boiled egg and one bowl with rice noodles. The generous amounts of coconut cream milk and condiments have to be mixed into the soup when preparing, to get a distinct flavour and aroma. Only half a boiled egg was served with small bits of shredded chicken in the soup!! The accompaniments of fried onions n garlic n spring onion et all which were served were nice. The rice dish was only served to us after we finished the soup, hence was very dry, had to request for tomato ketchup. This had to be served along with the soup, as it was ready and kept on the counter too!!! My experience in this fine dining restaurant, did not match up to my expectations. There should be some kind of coordination between the Staff here, when the order is taken, so that the guest is left satisfied. There were mostly hotel guests, present for dinner, I guess there are far better reasonably priced options available for the locals to choose from :-)
One of my old business friends was staying in Radisson and I invited him to lunch. I was vegetarian due to lent and had to stick to that. The steward recommended typniyakki rice and chicken for my friend and asian vegetables for me with hot and sour veg.soup to start with. The food was good and the service acceptable. There were hardly any guests; main reason could be the location of the hotel way away from the main road in a small congested byelane.
