Bijoli Grill is almost a household name in Kolkata, especially amongst Bengalis for dishing out fabulous snacks, be it a 'Fish Kabiraji', or 'Chicken or Mutton Cutlet', or a 'Fish Roll', over the years. They have several outlets across the length and breadth of the city and unlike the other cafe format places, this outlet has a proper dining facility. They serve Chinese, Bengali, Mughlai, North Indian as well as continental dishes. However, my money is on Bengali and Chinese. 'Luchi' and 'Cholar Dal' is a must have with the cholar dal being a tad bit sweet. 'Bhekti Paturi' has a tender piece of bhekti coated in pungent mustard sauce and steamed in a banana leaf.
They are earning by their ancestral name, please don't visit there even for once, terrible food ever. They served the worst food on earth in the name of bengali cuisine. Even the behavior of the staffs are quite unprofessional
Simple food with variety available, Good food but nothing great as now a days better quality is available at Kolkata food joints. Food service is fast but beverage is too slow, You need to remind several times to get your ordered beverage. The person who prepares mocktails (he is probably the cashier of the restaurant also) was more busy of having his own soda & beverages rather than clearing the orders. New soda / soft beverages bottles were being opened and he was having it first, besides other mocktails. This implies that either he is cheating the guest by charging all those to groups (there were 3 groups at that time), who normally does not check everything minutely or the restaurant does not have any control on the beverages and may be on the food also. Before visiting I called up to enquire whether parking is available and I was told that valet parking is available. But there was no designated parking and you have to park the car at roadside. No valet or security guard available. But at the time of departure security guard was available to open the car door (definitely for tips) when he is not required at all. Overall good joint for family.
Never disappoints. Especially with the fried Bengali specialised stuff. Should try the fish fry and the Kobiraji above everything else.
I like this restaurant. Food is simple and nice, service is very good. I also like the location very much.
Variety of Dishes available at moderate rates. This is our 4 th visit as it is located on Southern Avenue facing the Lake. Their Fish quality is very good as they use Kolkata Bhetki. Tried Chicken Roast but so so not up to the mark.
