While other five star Oriental outfits in the city offer a pan Asian spread, Chinoiserie is dedicated exclusively to Chinese food. This is the restaurant that turned out iconic dishes such as kai lachew and ohai zho lobster (no longer on the menu) under a string of ex pat master chefs. The food is as authentic as the local palate would allow. Currently their kitchen is headed by expat chef Lian Yun Lei who has been at Chinoiserie for almost a decade now and his penchant for adventure is obvious in the food (he is known to have made tofu taste like duck). His repertoire includes dishes such as steamed snow fungus soup, stir fried lap cheung (Chinese pork sausages) with Chinese cabbage and Chinese pickles and butter chilli garlic prawns, the must tries.
If one wants a homely atmosphere with family and enjoy the most delicious Chinese cuisine this is the place.The decor is decent.Staff most courteous.
The TAJ Inner Circle, the group’s loyalty programme, had “comped” us a dinner at Taj’s speciality Chinese restaurant. The service was excellent with the chef himself making suggestions and taking the order. And, he knew what he was talking about! We had a soup each, followed by an assortment of Dim Sums, ending with a couple of pork and fish dishes, accompanied by an assortment of vegetables. Everything was cooked to perfection and served with a smile 😊! A perfect evening! Thank you, TAJ.
We had lunch during our stay at Taj Bengal and decided to try this place and were not disappointed. We ordered soup, fried rice, noodles amongst other amd loved the taste. Price is as expected for the location and service was quite good.

Had always wanted to give this iconic place a try. Located almost in the heart of the city, its bang opposite the Kolkata Zoo. The first thing that you feel once inside this restaurant , is its warmth. Its cozy and the seating arrangements are unlike other places not crowded. Their drinks selection is exhaustive with a good selection of wines. You can choose from wide variety of appetisers and main courses. Each portions are just perfect for two. Prices are steep, but you already know that before you visit the place. I won't say its the best.... but definitely in the top 3 of Kolkata

Non-veg fried rice with Malha chicken are must try. Well cooked Salt and Pepper Lotus Stem, delicious Schezwan Whole wheat noodles Mongolian Chicken is yummy. Crabmeat Shao Mai with Fish Roe and Pork Chinkao dimsums are delicious. Savour Chinoiserie Special Fried Rice with Prawn and XO with tasty Hangzhou Green Pepper Tenderloin and Stir Fried Pork in Chilli Sweet Bean Sauce. mocktails are flavourful including Water of Paradise and Watermelon Cooler. The prawn and crabmeat shao mais are extremely delicious. An array of desserts will tempt your taste-buds such as Chocolate spring rolls, Chocolate Scones etc.
