This is Swissôtel’s specialty fine-dining outfit serving contemporary Indian food. Durbari enjoys a group of loyal patrons, but the swanky 88-cover restaurant with its split-level seating (for large groups) and well-stocked wine library mainly caters to guests staying at the hotel (people visiting the city on business, mostly). Naturally, lunch has few takers, so Durbari stays open for dinners only, on weekdays. Lunch is served on weekends only. The menu is extensive with everything from typical Punjabi pindi chana and Kashmiri rogan josh to Kerala-style meen moilee and bekti paturi, a Bengali classic. Plus, there are a few of their signature innovations such as the durbari kofta curry that has cottage cheese dumplings stuffed with apricots, fish tikka flavoured with Gandharaj lime and the Swiss cheese stuffed naan bread. A must-try is the Dal Durbari, their signature version of the kali dal, slow-cooked in the tandoor for nearly 20 hours, loaded with butter and cream.
The only good thing about the restaurant was its ambience. The food was average and the service was good. we could not get reservation in "ekante" hence we choose to come here, but was probably a wrong choice.
A last minute addition to the long list of do's proved that this was last but not the least. A big thank you to Ms. Sahana Dutta for accommodating us in the nth hour and organising everything so superbly. A truly majestic and memorable day for us. The staff was courteous, prompt and knowledgeable about their chores. A happy experience that left behind happier memories. Thank you Team Swissotel.
Both veg and non-veg signature sets are excellent. Selections are well paired, complimenting the spices from one dish to the next. Sonia served us with s smile and gracious professional service. Great evening. Great food. Great service
We had some great food at this rather nice restaurant in Kolkata. The food served here was rather nice and spicy, especially the very delicious raan (Indian leg of lamb), which was well cooked and well seasoned to ensure rather mouth watering tastes and flavours. The other dishes were also flavoursome, although not as tasty as the raan. The rice's were of a very good quality and tasty as well. The aromas of the dishes were very wonderfully aromatic and strong. The drinks and the chai's were great, so far in Kolkata the chai's have been wonderfully aromatic and full of flavour. The service was good with lovely waiting staff. Dining at Durbari was a highly relaxing and enjoyable experience, and the ambience and the décor were also very good as well.
Had dinner here while staying at the hotel! Food was absolutely delicious and plentiful! The Naan is amazing and the Ajwaini tandoori jheenga was amazing! Our server Deepak, was the absolute best, and took care of our every need from starter to dessert!
