The Astor hotel that occupies a century-old Victorian building with a stately red brick facade is a familiar Kolkata landmark. The 30-year-old Kebab-e-Que has been given a makeover recently but it has managed to preserve its old world charm. The renovated interiors are chic but simple – arched windows, stained glass lampshades and brick-patterned accent walls add a vintage touch. The restaurant serves as mix of Indian, Chinese and Continental dishes. But go there for the kababs. Their bestsellers include the signature Gosht Barra Kebab, the fenugreek-flavoured murgh kastoori kabab and their trademark murgh chakori kabab that has a distinct flavour of anise.
