KEBAB-E-QUE

KEBAB-E-QUE is a restaurant in Shakespeare Sarani, Kolkata serving Asian, Bengali and biryani. Known for Asian dishes; ideal for family meals and group outings.

The hospitality and atmosphere of this hotel (The Astor) is incredibly fantabulous. The staff (Rupashree, Debasish, Sujan & Olivia) were really welcoming. We loved our stay here and to be very honest, this is what a customer wants - good hospitality, luxury with elegance & uniqueness, this hotel has it all.

I would surely recommend a stay here! ?

I’ve been visiting Kebab-e-Que at The Astor Hotel since childhood, so I had high expectations when we went there recently for my cousins' anniversary celebration. Unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing, especially compared to my fond childhood memories.

The staff seemed reluctant and disengaged throughout the meal. We had to repeatedly call them just to refill water glasses, which made the evening feel uncomfortable. While my cousin still left a tip out of basic courtesy, I personally didn’t feel the service warranted one. We had to keep calling them to ask for tissues, napkins etc.

(A restaurant charging Rs. 400+ for an average plate ought to keep cloth serviettes, but they still hand over paper napkins.)

The à la carte kebabs we ordered separately were very good — flavorful and well-prepared, living up to the restaurant's reputation.

However, the "unlimited" kebab starters (the main highlight the restaurant promotes) were a major letdown. Most tasted like they had been pre-made hours earlier and reheated (possibly in a microwave), resulting in hard, rubbery textures. The chicken kebabs were particularly tough and dry. When we asked for replacements, the steward obliged, but even then some replacements never showed up.

The fish kebab from the assortment was the only standout as palatable on the first try. But when I requested more (since it was advertised as unlimited), they served just two small additional pieces. The overall kebab platter was also excessively oily, with a pool of oil collecting in the center of the plate, which ruined the presentation and taste.

While the à la carte items showed glimpses of why this place was once legendary, the unlimited menu felt like a cost-cutting afterthought. Combined with the poor service, it left a bad taste. I won’t be returning anytime soon and can’t recommend it right now, especially for the unlimited option.

Best of luck to the team — I hope they can regain their old form. Nostalgia alone isn’t enough to keep bringing people back.

We really loved the place and ambience of the restaurant, also the food was good and great in quantity But special mention for Debashish, Sujan , Rabi and Sudip . They welcomed us and briefed the menu so elaborately so that we could enjoy our date night to the fullest . We look forward to visit the place soon .

The definition of old money, Kebab-E-Que is one of the finest restaurants of Kolkata. The restaurant has warm and cozy vibes with a layer of grandeur. The food was absolutely delicious, especially the mutton seekh kebab which I had for lunch. Saptam, Rupashree, Sujan and Rabi were very helpful and amazing. All in all I'd come to eat here again

Everything was perfect. The food is the highlight with excellent taste and quality. The staffs are very good and provided great service throughout. The ambience is also wonderful. Highly recommended for a quality meal.

The food here is excellent. I enjoyed both dinner and breakfast during my stay. The dinner options are wonderful — I actually liked dinner more than breakfast. I would say the dinner is excellent, while the breakfast is good.

The service is truly wonderful. Even though breakfast is self-serve, the staff make you feel very special. They come to you, offer help, and are incredibly attentive and kind. Atanu, Sujan, and Olivia are exceptional — their welcoming attitude and genuine warmth truly make people feel happy and cared for.

The breakfast they serve was pretty good and so much variety they serve special thanks to debasish and rupashree for best poached eggs and dosa in the town.
Thanks to nirajita and Olivia for serving and creating best customer service to the visitors
Great work

Veritably rejoiced my sumptuous as well as grandiloquent Christmas Eve Dinner at the fullest....Polite attitude of Rupashree, Debasish, Saptam, Sudip and other staff members was indubitably commendable...The amicable and convivial nature veritably captivates the patrons so as the congenial ambience....
