This place is a landmark of the area and has been there for ages. Old-timers still prefer this place over a lot of new age restaurants; however, it has somehow lost its charm over on the new age diners. The decor is minimalistic with old chairs and tables along with table linen. The taste of the food, however, has remained unchanged over the years. Every dish has a comforting thing about it. Nothing fancy, no fusion, just plain old good food. Try the 'Jhinga Butter Masala' which comes with plump prawns in a light masala gravy along with a butter naan and you are sorted. The kebabs are all done brilliantly too.
We were a group of 7. The food was delectable. The service was good and the guidance given by the management on the choice of food was excellent. The baked fish is a must try. The fried prawns were excellent as well. The biriyani is light on the stomach and extremely tasty. The kebabs were equally good. For main course we also ordered chicken do-piaza and butter nan. In desserts, try the caramel custard and tooti fruiti.
Once a land mark at Ballygunge. I guess it's under new management now. Kebabs are great. And so is the fish batterfry or tempura as you might call it. Best fish is of course the fresh water Betki for this dish.
I was pleasantly surprised when I visited this Retaurant after a very long time. This restaurant was going down and almost written off but now it appears that Management has decided to restore its past glory. Staff was extremely courteous and went out of the way to help us in selecting the dishes. Two of us had their speciality fried fish made of bhekti, and grilled mushroom chicken. Both were excellent in taste and sufficient in quantity for two persons.
I have been coming to Kwality for the last 15 years or more. Its been an integral part of my Kolkata trips and hence I hold this place closely to my stomach!! But over the last few months, having been there twice (its a fav for my parents too...because their bread (butter nan) is one of the softest ones available in Kolkata...and their tutti-frutty ice cream is to die for) we realised that their main dishes and starter kebabs have deteriorated in quality. The gravy tastes same in all dishes - and the kebabs are not succulent anymore....service is prompt and kid-friendly...prices have increased so they no longer are a mid-range restuarant....a dinner for 5 came for 5K. Without alcohol!!!
We had our dinner in this restaurant. The food is very delicious, we kept on ordering for more. The restaurant is not very spacious but the servers were very helpful.
