Not much needs to be said about this mini chain of restaurants, which is no longer ‘mini’ with their multiple outlets and expansion across six cities. Kolkata was super excited and welcomed the chain with open arms. It is very centrally located on Park Street and is a two tier restaurant, although the ground floor only had 2 tables and a waiting area. It has an industrial look with an open kitchen and a fun vibe overall. The food is more than impressive. What I loved is you can get authentic South East Asian street food like the Bali bamee noodles, chiang mai train station noodles and many more. On weekends it is choc a bloc, so make your reservation likewise.
Chinese cuisine has to be the most beloved cuisine in India after their very own North Indian fare. Its been ages since Chinese food came to India and since then has become a household staple throughout the nation. Talking about Chinese food and not mention Kolkata is almost a sacrilege for this city is the birth place of our popular Indo-Chinese fare, which is the heartbeat of so many cities. It would not be wrong to say Kolkata takes pride in its selection of Chinese restaurants and is almost a snob about it. Very recently it welcomed in its fold a spectacular restaurant ?Mamagoto?, which is an immensely popular chain of restaurants ranging across six cities. The city welcomed Mamagoto, after a long wait, with open arms giving it a prime spot at Park Street.
The menu of Mamagoto is just not limited to Chinese food but sets out to include Thai fare as well. Take account of its wonderful variety that spoils a diner for choices. Small bowl meals are created for those on a time crunch while allowing them to eat a fulfilling meal without wasting too much time on choosing a spread. Within a moderately priced range one can take a friend out for splendid meal. It?s best to start out your meal with some munchies. Dig into Mamagoto?s amazing variety like, java grilled tofu, crispy lotus stem, water chestnut spring rolls, grilled fish with South East Asian dressing, traditional peking dumplings, spicy fried calamari and old school gyoza. For second course tuck into, crispy fish fillet, masaman curry, kimchi tofu, London?s china town chicken, lamb with chilli & hoisin sauce and soft shell crab in Mama?s sauce.
Finish your delicious stint at Mamagoto with some of their mouth-watering desserts. Watch out sugar buffs! You are in for a treat. Up for grabs are, choco walnut fudge in a cup with ice cream, banofee pie, home-made ?american style? chunky caramel sponge cake with toffee sauce, coconut panko banana with caramel sauce, home-made coconut & palm sugar ice cream and sticky rice with mango. Kolkata?s Mamagoto keeps a bit industrial look, enlivened by the same quintessential quirky pop Asian prints and striking playful d‚cor. Fun wall arts and colourful prints transforms a dark warehouse into something delightful. The vibe is casual, fun and attractive.
The culinary magic of Mamagoto has finally reached the historic lanes of Park Street, Kolkata. The area, which is the heart of the city, is enlivened by a pop of bright yellow façade, namely, Mamagoto. After creating a major buzz in Delhi and Mumbai, Mamagoto has instantly caught the fancy of Kolkata through its fantastic South East Asian menu and a perky playful décor. Mamagoto is a sharp contrast from the other old-fashioned Chinese establishments in the city. Instagram the quirky vibrant décor and pose with your date against the striking wall art for a Special Occasion. Mamagoto would be ideal for an informal rendezvous over gyozas.
Main cuisine served at Mamagoto is Pan Asian.
