When one thinks about the food of Kolkata they often end up imagining luscious seafood cooked in mustard enhanced curries or loads of authentic Continental fare. The city is so multi-facet when it comes to food that one can go for months without trying the same dish twice. At one hand, you have a community who is hardcore carnivores and on the other you have a sector fully dedicated to pure vegetarian food. To keep the latter group happy, several restaurants have popped up on the map taking care of every vegetarian need through a delectable menu filled with veggie delights. For instance, there is ‘Teekha’, a veggie-centric restaurant coming from the house of the famous Haldiram. Its location at Haldiram Food City in Ballygunge, which already received much fanfare from the families only extended its lure through this wonderful eatery.

The dishes on the menu are the usual suspects of a crowd-pleasing menu targeting multiple cuisines at one time. You can enjoy a vast variety of dishes ranging from a North Indian, Chinese and Continental selection. They also do Jain version of any dish you might like to have. If you want to taste a little bit of everything, opt for their buffet. It will be generous as well as pocket-friendly choice. Watch the live telecast of sports in between courses to keep yourself entertained. For a change skip the bar menu and divulge straight into Teekha’s menu with a bowl of comforting soup or a glass of masala chaas. Accompany a few starters to go with it like, papdi chaat, paneer achaari, Chinese bhel, crispy chilli babycorn, Teekha ke sholay and tandoori aloo hari mirchi.

Main couse is a heady array of curries, oriental gravies and pastas etc. Dessert section is a sight worth seeing. Be ready to get dazzled with a wide variety of Sandesh, gur rasmalai, pista bahar, rosogolla, chenna payesh, hot brownie with ice cream, hot gulab jamun, kesari kulfi, sizzling brownie and darshan with ice cream. The dining room at Teekha is formally designed with sturdy wooden tables and pleasing brightly-lit ambience. There are couple of comfy plush sofas placed near the plate glass windows, choose those if you want to laze around. The ambience is smart, classic and good-looking.
