This chain of cafes is a great place to catch up over a cup of chai. This is a casual cafe that works perfectly as a venue for meetings, catching up with friends over a cup of tea or even just a convenient spot to work out of. They are known for their range of teas including 'Kulhad Chai' and 'Tulsi Green Tea'. The food here is more of a snacky affair with sandwiches and Nashta including things like 'Bun Maska' and 'Vada Pav' as well as some sweet treats. Perfect for when you are feeling peckish and do not want a full meal.
Was just shopping around when we felt the hunger. Wanted to try something different, and on searching Chaayos came up and we decided to give it a go. The place had a nice laid off vibe to it. We took the corner seats and ordered the famous Sahi chai with Loaded Open Paratha. The Sahi Chai was super thick and creamy which was ok, but cannot say the same for the loaded open paratha which I loved, comes with three options and we choose keema chicken. It was really well prepared and I enjoyed every bite of it. Over a decent place for a snack break.
When I walked into the restaurant the first thing which attracted me is the gratitude and polietness of each staff member here. As soon as anyone enters the staff welcomes them by saying "Welcome to Chaayos" which shows how happy they are to serve their delicacies. The other interesting area was the ambience. It was the classic Chaayos Ambience and wall filled with different quotes framed in which were related to Chai (Indian Masala Tea). There is enough seating for Family, Friends and even for work purpose. Staff here at Chaayos Kurla is very polite and helps out with each little things customer wants. They are always there at single call and ensures customers aren't irritated. Here, I tried the New Summer Menu 2019 of Chaayos. Among which I tried Chilli Cheese Toast, Egg Bun and Out of 4 different flavors of Lassi I went for 2 which were Mango Lassi and Mint Masala Lassi. Starting with Chilli Cheese Toast. The first question before trying this dish was how is chilli gonna work in summers. Because we generally we prefer something light and refreshing in summers. But after tasting the dish it found to be way better option for toast. Chilli Cheese Toast is full of Cheese rather it's Cheesy, Spice with Chillies everywhere and obviously herbs for seasoning. The bread used was way too soft and bit fluffy. Speciality of bread was its a multigrain bread. Well it was toast to perfectness without losing the softness of the bread. Good to know stuff, Chia seeds are added to bread. Well created dish to have in summers. The toast is not heavy at all though it contains good amount of cheese. Light, Full Flavours and rightly toast dish to have. Moving on to Egg Bun. It is very easy and simple dish but personally I liked this a lot. It's really great option for eggy breakfast. What's in there? Yeah it contains Boiled Eggs( white portion), Corn, Herbs and Basil well mixed together and stuffed in fluffy Burger Bun with Seasme Seeds. When you have bite of Egg Bun there is absolutely no stickyness in it. It's really very smooth to have. And it's also an healthy breakfast option as well. There is mix flavour of herbs, fresh basil, sweet corn and boiled blanch egg white. Together they brew different texture and taste in each bite. If you are egg person you should definitely go for Egg Bun. Else you Chilli Cheese Toast to try. Out of 4 Lassi I tried 2 of them which are Mango Lassi and Mint Masala Lassi. Here's the quick take on Lassi which I tried. Mango Lassi: When it comes to Summer the only fruit comes to mind is Mango. And who doesn't love Mangoes. The Lassi was frothy and full of flavours of Mango till last sip. It was well balanced with the flavours and sweetness between Mango and Lassi since both are sweet. When combined together they have really balanced the flavor which makes really positive point about the Lassi. The sweet drink is really not that heavy to have it and you can comfortably have another 2/3 glass of it. It is served in Kulhad which adds to chillness required for Lassi. Not much but 1/2 ice cubes are added to make it more chilled. Great balance flavours of flavours, balanced sweetness and perfect light and chillness makes it really good and interesting Lassi. Mint Masala Lassi: We always have Mint Masala Chaas. Ever heard of this flavour in Lassi? Maybe not. But chaayos has introduced Mint Masala Lassi in their New Summer Menu which made me tempt to taste this Lassi. Basically if we look at Chaas it is lighter and Lassi is heavier but the combination of both is neither light not heavy. It is slightly heavy compared to Chaas to have. This Lassi was really giving a freshness while having each sip of it. Generally we prefer sweeter version of Lassi but this made me even think of having Masala Lassi. And definitely attracted me. There is little sweet taste, minty flavours, mild spicy and blended if different Masalas. A tip to remember is stir the Kulhad lassi after each sip so that you get balanced flavour. Even this one is also frothy to have and served in Kulhad. Really good alternative to Chaas to have. One will forget whether he or she is having Lassi or Chaas while having it. Coming to Desserts which were Chocolate Factory Cake and Moist Chocolate Cake. Among the two I personally liked the Moist Chocolate Cake. Chocolate Factory Cake was dry and lacked moisture. It was falling down into pieces while having. But taste was absolutely good it was enough sweet. Wholesome piece of cake and sizeable quantity. Moist Chocolate Cake was like Choco Lava Cake. Spongy and moist from outside and drooling chocolate inside. It was so good and the chocolate from inside was flowing. Enough size and quantity and perfect molten chocolate inside moist cake. That was a quick review what I felt in Chaayos. To Summarise everything: Plus Points were: Staff service, Food Quality and and Polite Staff. Any Negative Point I am unable to point. The only point which would be the execution of order which takes a little more time than normal. Ratings: Overall: 4.5/5 Food: 4.5/5 Service: 4.5/5 Ambience: 4/5
We expected some speciality teas. Not much of range except for add-ons. Got mixed tea. At least serve brewed tea! Decor follows a format!
This is what we call something innovative in restaurant business. This outlet is adjacent to Starbucks, but I will select chaayos everytime. Nice selection of teas, along with some indian snacks make the combination mouth watering. A bit more cheaper than Starbucks. If you are tea fan, this is the place for you to go.
Thank you, for the invite, Chaayos! :) I happened to visit this place yesterday, with my foodie friends, to check out their latest menu that they had launched, which was being called as the Monsoon special menu. I tried their desi filter coffee, which was decent, their desi cold coffee shake, which was good and aromatic. I also tried their Peach iced tea, which was quite refreshing and soothing on the palate. Lastly i had their Kulfi shake, which too was unique but a bit oversweet. In snacks, I ordered one plate of kulcha and butter chicken, being served in earthen pots. This dish was delicious and a must- try, if you visit this place. Not just the taste, but the presentation was also spot on. Then came the Cecelian chicken sandwich, with succulent chicken chunks and caramelized onions out in between, It too was very nummy. I had their chiceken keema chat, which was a very unique dish, something I had never tried before. It was delicious too. I also tried their thepla tacos paneer. It was light, healthy and perfect as an evening snack. For desserts, I ordered their moist chocolate cake, which was tasty, chocolaty and yet moist on the inside. My recommendations: Must try kulcha and butter chicken and Cecelian chicken sandwich Overall rating: Taste: 4/5 Ambience: 5/5 (Perfect for chilling with friends or working ) Service: 5/5 ( On time and staffs being very cordial)
