The simple but elegant décor and the cosy atmosphere of this fine-dining Chinese restaurant spell comfort immediately. Unfortunately, the service staff is a bit laidback. The menu is limited but enough to offer ample variety in a Chinese meal for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. Apart from the regular menu, there is also a set menu with three sets of options. There is a separate bar menu as well as an exhaustive wine list. The food is unpretentious and true to the flavours of this cuisine. None of the dishes are high on spices or sauces, but yet, flavoursome. The Spicy Bean Curd Soup is hugely popular among vegetarians. Lobster Black Bean and Wok Fried Prawns are worth sampling. The Yangzhou Rice with generous amounts of egg, chicken, prawn and pork is a carnivore’s delight. The quality of the ingredients, especially seafood boasts of freshness all the way. Among desserts, the mango pudding is a treat as it is not cloyingly sweet and the texture is just perfect. The health-conscious may opt for the chia seeds pudding. The chef steps out and speaks to every guest seeking their feedback.
We had specific requirements in terms of Vegetarian with restrictions. The chef personally took our order and guided us. We were served Lotus Stem as Appetizer whose taste was tangy and great. The rice and noodles alongwith the Vegetables in black bean sauce was the right combination for our dinner and we left fully satisfied. Service was attentive. Decor was decent
We visited this restaurant for Tangra Food Fest, an Indo-China affair inspired from the China town of Kolkata which is famous for Desi Chinese Food. We happened to visit them for dinner but I am sure the view during the day will only add to a beautiful experience. While being an authentic Chinese restaurant they did a good job on giving a Desi twist to Chinese food thus making an interesting Indo-Chinese affair. Being vegetarians we preferred the main course over the starters. We tried Spring rolls, Veg Manchurian and Crystal Dumplings in Starters, all of which were rich in flavors however tasted average . We then ordered for Chilli Garlic Noodles and Schezwan fried rice. We just loved these two preparations, the flavours, the taste, the quantity everything was perfect. The service was good considering the hospitality of the servers, however the order took a little while to arrive. Ambiance can be the core factor to drive you here with your date especially during the day time. The beautiful view of Powai lake will give you a feeling of being away from the city while being in the heart of it.
Ordered the vegetarian banquet meal with another chicken main dish as not a vegetarian and was pleasantly surprised. The food was exquisite very authentic Cantonese and of a very high standard, service was outstanding and over a great experience at a reasonable cost that I would recommend to others.
Located in Renaissance hotel, having view of lake powai. Food, ambiance and service were just average.
I had dinner a few times there and the food was amazing. I had lobster butter garlic, sweat and sour pork, pork spare ribs, char sui bun, red bean creme brûlée, chia pudding. All were delicious! Staff was friendly and accommodating. One evening, the Chef stopped by the table to say hello and inquire about the food and overall atmosphere. That was a nice touch. I highly recommend the place!
