The one cuisine that is seriously lacking in the city is Korean food and Heng Bok which is tucked away in Bandra is the only restaurant that specialises in it. If you are looking for a few Chinese dishes or Hakka anything then this is not the place for you. It is not a very large restaurant but it is popular with each table having its own inbuilt pit for a table barbeque. It goes without saying that a meal here is incomplete without experiencing the Korean Barbeque and you can choose any meats or vegetables of your choice. Our advice is to go beyond the usual suspects of Bulgogi, Bipimbab and Japche and try their Korean Spicy Seafood Noodles or even the Korean Hot Pot.
Living in Mumbai, dining in Korea-This Surely couldn't get better. Wanting to try some good korean food we visited Heng Bok, one of the very few restaurants serving authentic Korean. Hengbok shares the floor with our all time favourite Japanese restaurant Kofuku. Korea & Japan on the same floor. Dim lighting & classic ambience, hospitable servers & great food- We're exactly looking for this. To start off with, we opted for the Khimchi & Sundubu Jjigae Soup- Sundubu won here. Sundubu is Simply Spicy tofu soup. Moving to our appetisers we opted for the: Tteokbokki- Hot spicy rice cakes, Korean Style Mandu- Dumplings, Cheese Kimbab- Kind of Korean sushi. The Tteokbokki is a must try. For our mains we opted for the Dolsot Bipibap & Korean Spicy Ramen. The Dolsot is an authentic Korean rice dish. Our Server-Dorjee mixed it really well for us. Both of our mains turned out to be good choices. For the desserts we opted for the Fried Tempura Icecream & The Mochi Icecream. We would surely choose Mochi icecream here. We would love to thank our server Dorjee who made sure we were comfortable. We love being served with a smile!
I really had a great Korean food here at this restaurant with my family members. Porks were great here and also kimchi pan cake. We also ordered California sushi which was very good. Really had a great time here. Must visit for people who loves Korean cuisine.
We ordered a soup and the kimbab. Sooperb tasty meals. Great service. Not really much crowded so more attention.
The restaurant is famous for its serene ambience. It is an amazing place for a person who wanted to unwind after a hard day. The staffs were very courteous and welcomed us with a warm reception.!!! The food was mouth watering!!! Definitely recommendable. Please visit folks. PS: Address has been changed from turner road to linking road which is 5 mins walkable distance. Thank you Heng Bok Team.
The restaurant has shifted it's address from turner road to Linking road next to shoppers stop. we were early than the normal lunch hours but the staff welcomed us and provided the food. The ambience was good and food tasty. The quantity was quite sufficient for two people. Overall good feeling.
A blessing for Korean community residing in Mumbai ‘Heng Bok’ is the city’s first standalone restaurant catering exclusively Korean food. Housed in the Bandra Talao vicinity the restaurant satisfies the taste buds of Korean food enthusiasts. Although the restaurant is lacking in décor front the management has invested all its energy in the kitchen. The unpretentious surroundings may look humble but the restaurant remains fully occupied most of the time. The tables are closely placed so it becomes slightly cramped but the food lovers don’t mind. They adore Heng Bok and visit it for dinners with large group of friends and family. The chef imports most of the meat resulting the price hike in the menu. The Korean expats love to come here to taste the authentic food of their country. The staff of Heng Bok is extremely helpful and knowledgeable so take their opinion under consideration.
The Korean cuisine is unique in itself both in taste and in preparation. The meat gets barbequed right at the table. Order some Korean flavoured soups such as miso soup, galbi tang, kimchi jjigae, sundubu jjigae and doenjang jjigae, for more original experience. As first course go for, grilled Japanese saba, tiger prawns tempura, chicken house salad, fried prawns tempura, haemul pajeon (Korean seafood pan cake), dubu kimchi, edamame, tofu house salad, grilled rice cake with asparagus, pajeon (Korean spring onion pan cake), jim mandu (dumpling), grilled eel fish with kabayaki sauce, corn & cheese korokke and steam bok choy with Korean soybean paste.
The exciting mains welcomes you at Heng Bok such as, bulgogi, dak galbi, mapo tofu, tofu steak, salmon teriyaki, baked salmon with miso sauce, Korean curry rice, Heng Bok special curry, mix vegetable in doenjang sauce, special crab curry, Korean chicken curry.
