The careful interplay of flavours and textures resulting in well-balanced dishes is the hallmark of the simple but delicious Chinese food here. The menu is an exercise in choices as it offers abundant options, for non-vegetarians and vegetarians alike. The bar menu is equally exhaustive. The elegant but no-fuss décor makes this place a hot spot for families as well as corporate diners. The 'Steamed Crystal Dumplings' are delicate and easy-on-the-palate. 'Pan Grilled Crab Cakes' and 'Prawns Hargao' are apt for non-vegetarians to start their meal with. 'Konjee Crispy Lamb' is bound to get your instant vote as the lamb is succulent yet crunchy and the flavours intense. It is heartening to see all-time favourites like 'Crackling Spinach and Fukien Crabmeat Fried Rice' still on the menu. The food sans any preservatives and flavour enhancers is a treat for the palate. 'Honey Noodles with Almond Flakes' and 'Coconut Caramel Custard' are desserts you can relish. Service is efficient and the staff polite and warm. Each dish comes in 2 portion sizes so one can order accordingly.
The Chinese food in buffet is very average All items taste same Chicken dim sum not good no taste Never take buffet menu
Visited around 3 pm on 6th Oct-18. The food is average. Starters are no different, the staff was fatigued. Ambience is good but the overall experience has started getting too predictable and maybe for a fan of the Mainland China buffet, this was just about an average experience and the beginning of thinking whether this is really what I would want next time. Restaurant is still doing great but I am a little disappointed!
We visited mainland China in Viviana Mall on Father’s Day and the restaurant was really nice to eat and also to celebrate in, we got complimentary desserts with our main course, The dumplings were very good and the RohAn fried rice is to live for, Overall a very good visit, Regards Aditya Saraswat
Its not first time that mainland china have surprised me with their delicious recipes. I would not mention any special item.. rather i would recommend everyone near by to try mainland china without any doubts and i am sure that no one will be disappointed.
Yesterday, that is on 2nd March, 2018 we had guests and we decided to go to some new place we had not tried before and we chose to go to Mainland China since we had never been there. Location is at Viviana Mall first floor and ambience and decor is ok. The person who takes order does not suggest anything he just took down whatever we said. ok fair enough. We asked for Crabmeat soup. It was carb meat in sweet corn soup. We also had chicken dimsum etc. I realised that the food is not freshly prepared but semi cooked food just frozen and delivered to this branch (as they have several branches in Mumbai ) and delivered to this place where they just take out a packet out of fridge and heat it before serving. It has that typical taste and person with good tastebuds can recognised it. Later in main course we ordered thai curry with specific instructions that we do not want any chilly or pungent fiery taste. When they served it we realised that the curry was tasty but it was very pungent and it was due to powdered cloves, black pepper and dry ginger profusely added and it gave a really burning sensation on the tongue. We called the manager and told him that despite our specific instructions this sort of curry is served. He was a good man and very apologetic. He agreed to bring fresh one which we refused but requested him to delete this item from our bill which he readily agreed. In addition, he brought us dessert as complimentary which we politely refused to eat. As an afterthought we realised that when the food is already prepared and delivered to a restaurant there job is just to heat and serve as if freshly prepared and in that case they would not be able to make any change in a dish. This is apalling and not easily digestable idea. Since we did not like the taste of the food we shall never go there.
Chinese cuisine was the first cuisine that touched our hearts and country after Indian fare. The honey chilli potato, spring rolls, manchrian, chowmein, fried rice, dumplings are still existent on streets. We have fallen in love with this amazing cuisine that has fast become our comfort food. We have indianised the cuisine by tweaking it as our own. One of the best Chinese restaurant in the city is Mainland china Asia Kitchen, Oberoi Mall, Goregaon East, Mumbai. The restaurant serves mouth-watering Chinese cuisine. The loyalists of Chinese cuisine visit this restaurant often claiming that there is nothing like Mainland China. The interiors are casual and brightly lit. It’s comfortable as it should be while enjoying soul food. From the moment you step on the premises you are reminded of China with the circular gate guarded by the twin dragons. Terracotta soldiers flanking the entrance looks so formidable.
Mainland china is known for its wonderfully authentic cuisine. Dumplings or ‘heart’s delight’ as it means in Chinese are served in bamboo steamers in various forms and flavours. The starters are made from chicken, seafood, vegetables and meat. Hunan prawns, pan fried chilli fish, crispy potatoes with lime & chillies, lemon grass grilled chicken, barbequed skewered king prawns, crackling spinach, crispy corn chilli pepper are some of the fine examples. For mains chef cooks variety of dishes. Poached fish with Thai herbs, chilli basil fish, stewed king prawns with Thai herbs, sliced chicken with celery & wine, burnt garlic fish with seasonal greens, roast lamb, okra and potato in black bean sauce, mapo tofu with mushrooms, wok tossed greens with garlic are delightful. Specially fried jumbo prawns. Rice and noodles are presented in shallow bowls in enticing way garnished with fried egg or spring onion. If you want a lighter meal opt for piping hot soups. Eight treasure soup is worth trying. The food presentation has been kept in mind too. Beautiful coloured bowls, platters and bamboo steamers are used to display fare in most innovative way.
The misconception that Chinese normally don’t serve sweets mainland china has a small but delicious dessert section. Besides hot chocolate rolls, honey noodles with almond flakes and caramel sponge cake with toffee sauce is served. The staff is friendly and smiling. Though some may consider the restaurant expensive it has only managed to deliver on the promise of authentic Chinese cuisine. Money doesn’t matter where there is quality involved. So visit mainland china soon and draw your own memories.
