What started out as a small humble restaurant in Crawford market has today boomed into one of the most sought-after restaurants for North Indian food. From one little restaurant, Zaffran has expanded to a whopping 9 different outlets spread across the city. If you are in the mood for rich North Indian food then Zaffran is the perfect place for you. 'Galouti Kababs', 'Murgh Zaffrani Tikka', 'Nihari Ghost', 'Zaffran Butter Chicken' are all popular choices. The food is rich and heavy so do not expect a light meal here, it is all about celebrating good food. While they are known for their meat-based dishes, they have not forgotten the vegetarian diner and the menu caters well to them.
We entered and were told to wait for 5 mins despite making a reservation. The food is so average at this franchise and is incredibly overpriced for the quality. Service isn’t great and they apply a 10% charge if you use any app offers. Disappointing.
We looked at the website of restaurant and were impressed. Restaurant was almost empty perhaps because it was 2:30 on Monday afternoon. We ordered two of the appetizers which were on top of the website. Waiter was not aware of the restaurant website. We showed him the pictures. It took then 20 minutes to bring first appetizer. And another 5 minutes for other. We ordered other item on top of their website the butter chicken and three vegetarian dishes with rumali roti. They took the order and disappeared. I got up to look for manager but he was gone too. After half hour our food was served. The quality of food was good. Specially the desert which was on menu but not on website. Ignoring the service over all it was good lunch.
Visited this restaurant again after 4 years. We had visited this upscale restaurant located in Growels Mall in Kandivli for lunch with family on a weekday afternoon. The seating was comfortable and ambience was nice along with good service. The place was empty other than a group of 15 office people celebrating project lunch. We had tried afghani chicken tikka which was soft succulent along with dal makhni and chicken tikka masala with roomali roti. Food was finger licking delicious but expensive since total bill including tax was around 2000 rupees for 3 people.
We had a dinner at Kandivali(E) branch. Dining hall is spacious. Staffs are caring. We liked Murg musallam. starters of prawn, mushroom were also good.
