Insider Tips

  • The establishment claims to bake its own croissants, and a lovely little croissant sandwich, stuffed with peanut and onion masala, mozzarella and murabba, is also up for grabs
  • The paneer tikka and chicken tikka pizzas both come with a generous splash of minty green chutney atop, making for a surprisingly fresh offset to the spiciness and cheesiness of the fusion comfort food
  • Their tiny selection of parathas reminds you of home. Stuffing options range across aloo, gobi, methi and paneer (with chopped green chillies), all served with curd and pickle and made in whole wheat flour

This cosy establishment has mostly outdoor seating, done up in splashes of red-yellow and equipped with ceiling fans to keep you cool. The ambience is simple and the offerings easy on the pocket, making it especially popular with the local student crowd. Sip on a masala Thumbs Up as you choose between their spiced French fries or soft bun maska, before you consider heading for a 12-inch, thin crust pizza, topped with roast chicken, jalapeños, onions, fresh basil and a generous splash of sweet stewed apple murabba. As the name suggests, some sort of chutney, sauce or murabba (traditional sweet-sour relish) accompanies each preparation on the diminutive menu. Also edible are the well-stuffed grilled kheema pav with green mint chutney, a crunchy vegetable sandwich with onion rings and a honey-mustard mayonnaise, the fiery egg bhuna wrap in a wheat roomali and the corn or chicken ‘curritos’ – a methi roomali stuffed with the hero ingredient, curried rice, capsicum-onion-cucumber, and a pickled lemon murabba. With a large part of the concept evocative of ‘maa ke haath ka khaana’, there also had to be some comforting curried rice bowls on the menu – the grilled paneer version with South Indian-style spices and the curd-based curry one with boiled gram flour chips and papad churi are definitely sumptuous.
