Set on the top floor of Onyx Towers in the elite Koregaon Park area, Pesto Pesto offers Italian fare that caters efficiently to the popularity of this genre of cuisine. As you walk in, a stylishly modern, arty entrance with an abstract, curvy wall feature melds suddenly into a romantically lit, old-world set-up, with quaint green and woodwork chairs, Mediterranean village graffiti on a wall, and glass windows surrounding the dining area for an absolutely spectacular view of the city. In fact, the latter is one of the most beloved features of the establishment, offering a sprawling glimpse of the city’s relatively green south over hills, burgeoning residences and a breathtaking skyline. Interestingly, the pesto motif runs strong when it comes to the menu, reflected in several categories in the form of the appetising, synonymous sauce. For example, take the farfalle al pesto, which brings together the classic combo of this (al dente) pasta with smoothly blended olive oil, basil, parmesan, garlic and pine nuts. The risotto al Genovese marries the same flavours into creamy arborio rice, while the chicken kiev oozes a pesto-infused cream cheese from its crumb-fried covering. To take this further, there is a Pesto Pesto pizza as well, with toppings such as mushroom, jalapeños, olives, bell peppers and sun-dried tomatoes atop a succulent bubbling mess of mozzarella and pesto sauce. But we forgot to mention: do not miss starting out with their finger-licking contorni or sides – examples include the marinated mixed olives, the Italian bread basket (with balsamic, olive oil, harissa chilli sauce and warm garlic butter), or the crisp pizza wedges topped with melting cheese.
