Pan Asian food is not only delicious and aromatic but light on your pockets too. The easy availability of this cuisine on every corner of the city of Pune hints at its popularity and for students living in Pune it is nothing short of a blessing. This delicious fare is as ancient as time when peasant Chinese fishermen used to combine the catch of the day with their local easy hands on herbs. For us Indians this cuisine relates to us on a basic level which we find comforting and relaxing. In Pune there are plenty of Pan Asian restaurants working steadily towards giving us a meal prepared as authentically as possible. They stay true to the correct aromatics and freshest of the ingredients are used. From the hands of the native Asian chef the food which comes out of the ‘Panash’ kitchen is really commendable. The restaurant is a lovely and sophisticated place where you can take your family or friends for a celebratory dinner. Panash also dabbles into sushi which is a source of great joy for its patrons. The restaurant also specializes into Teppanyaki meals which is a personal favourite of mine. To finish you can always go for the deep fried ice cream which is then drizzled with star anise caramel sauce to give it an extra oomph.
Décor of ‘Shakahari’ of JW Marriott is enough to uplift the spirits of its patrons. The very posh and vibrant interiors puts Shakahari into the line of most stylish places in Pune. The food festivals hosted here grabs the attention of food circuit on regular basis. A very satisfying menu for vegetarians is on display here which is mention-worthy. The management also stocks on some vegetarian wines for the serious vegetarians. Overall Shakahari is a vegetarian’s haven in a very elegant package. ‘Baan Tao – Exotic Oriental’ is a perfect place for Pan Asian buffs to loose themselves. This very sophisticated restaurant is a visual delight for the patrons who come here in need of an ambience. The outdoor sitting area of Baan Tao gets a lot of attention from the couples who like to linger over their food admiring the sunset. The place is pricey but you won’t feel cheated by its delicious food and awesome romantic ambience.
‘Café Chinoise’ of The HHI Pune, is a safe place where the food and décor is nothing much to speak of as far originality is concerned. However, expect to see the classics here prepared well by the team of talented chefs. The décor in itself is stylish and edgy but nothing fantastic about it. Their outdoor space is generally filled with punters who want nothing else but a decent place with delicious food and reasonable rates. Pan Asian Restaurants in Pune are slowly gaining momentum and trying to find their feet but some occasional bursts of innovation hits them and they manage to surprise us with their zeal. Don’t lose heart, Pune. There is still hope for you.
