If you are looking for a quiet, understated meal, turn around now. Dhaba Estd 1986 Delhi is not just a restaurant; it is a high-octane, Bollywood-infused celebration of North Indian soul food. With its roots firmly planted in the heritage of Delhi’s Claridges, this Bengaluru outpost attempts a difficult balancing act: maintaining the rugged charm of a highway eatery while delivering the precision of fine dining.
The Atmosphere: Kitsch with Character
The decor is a masterclass in "Urban Desi." From the vibrant truck art and "Horn OK Please" signage to the quirky posters and colorful seating, the energy is palpable. It’s loud, it’s proud, and it’s infectious. The highlight for many is the impromptu dance performances by the staff—a spectacle that transforms a standard dinner into a festive event. It is the perfect venue for a boisterous group celebration, though perhaps less ideal for a romantic first date.
The Culinary Staples: A Tale of Two Classics
The menu is a curated journey through Punjab. Here are the non-negotiables:
The Dal Dhaba: This is the gold standard. Slow-cooked to a buttery, smoky perfection, it rivals the best Dal Makhani in the country.
Galouti Kebab: A true "melt-in-the-mouth" experience. The spice profile is sophisticated, leaning into the Awadhi influence with grace.
Butter Chicken 1986: This version eschews the overly sweet, tomato-heavy base found elsewhere for a more robust, spice-forward gravy that feels authentic to its namesake era.
The Tandoori Raan: For the meat lovers, this is a showstopper—tender, well-marinated, and deeply flavorful.
The "Fine Print": Service and Value
While the flavors often hit the mark, the experience isn't without its bumps. The service hierarchy can struggle under the weight of Bengaluru's weekend rush; expect longer wait times for your mains and a slightly frantic pace.
Additionally, diners should be prepared for the "Premium Dhaba" pricing. You are paying for the brand and the theater as much as the food. Portion sizes can occasionally feel modest relative to the bill, and the steep pricing on bottled water remains a consistent point of contention among patrons.
The Verdict
Dhaba Estd 1986 Delhi succeeds because it doesn’t take itself too seriously, even if its kitchen takes the food very seriously. It captures the "Dil-waalo ki Delhi" spirit perfectly in the heart of Karnataka.
Critic’s Tip: Visit the Indiranagar or Brigade Road outlets for a more polished experience, but if you're at the Marathahalli branch, double-check your table placement to ensure you're in the heart of the action.

Value for Money: 3/5

Visited Dhaba – Estd 1986 Delhi at Marathahalli with family. The food was great, service was prompt, and the staff were courteous — no complaints there. The vibrant ambiance added to the overall dining experience.

However, the prices are extremely steep — both food and drinks are heavily overpriced. Feels more like a 5-star restaurant tariff than a casual dhaba-style place. Good for a one-time visit, but definitely not value for money.

Visited Dhaba Estd 1986 Delhi last week and had a mixed experience overall.
The ambience is definitely the highlight — vibrant décor with a proper old Delhi dhaba theme that makes the place feel lively and unique. It’s a good spot for photos and group outings. The tandoori starters were flavorful and nicely cooked, especially the kebabs which had a good smoky taste. The dal makhani was rich and comforting.
However, a few dishes felt slightly over-spiced, and the butter chicken gravy was a bit sweeter than expected. Service was decent but a little slow during peak time. Pricing is on the higher side compared to portion size.
Overall, it’s a good place for North Indian food and ambience, but consistency in taste and speed of service could be improved. Worth trying once, especially if you enjoy Delhi-style dhaba vibes.

Good place for our style food. Taste were excellent and the designed theme is really well. Service time should be improved.

Yummy food, other than the paan served at the end. Avoid having the paan. Entrance of the restaurant and parking needs to be improved.

The place looks like a mini Bollywood set – super colorful, desi vibes, full-on filmy mood ?✨
But here's my real review — the food was just okay, not bad, not wow.
Now comes the plot twist: the prices hit harder than a breakup ??

Ordered simple dishes but felt like I was sponsoring a wedding buffet ?
Honestly, for this price, I expected fireworks in my mouth – got sparkles instead.

The photo shows empty chairs – not because the place is bad, but because people probably ran after seeing the menu ?

Ambience: 10/10
Food: 6/10
Price-to-Taste Ratio: 2/10
Regret Level: High but funny

Would I go again? Only if someone else is paying ?

Maybe they claim to serve authentic punjabi food but they are a fail i guess. If you are going there for atmosphere and decor or for some pictures may be you came back happily but if you are going to try some good food , please don't. Was there for a weekday lunch time , as buffet was not available we opt for some starter thinking we should try at least something but , The CHICKEN WAS SUPER DRY , as they didn't marinated that more than a hour or two. Overly spiced to try to call that authentic punjabi food. Menu is overpriced.

I recently visited Dhaba Est 1986 in Marathahalli and was quite impressed with its overall ambiance. The restaurant has a nice, rustic Punjabi-themed decor, which gives it an authentic dhaba-style feel. The seating was comfortable, and the lighting added to the cozy yet vibrant atmosphere, making it a great place for dining.

We decided to try the Highway Chicken Tikka, which was well-prepared and tasted good. The chicken was tender, well-marinated, and had the perfect balance of spices. However, we found the pricing on the higher side. At ₹499 + GST, it seemed quite expensive for the portion served. Given the pricing, we were curious to explore other dishes, but unfortunately, many of them were unavailable at the time of our visit.

This lack of availability was disappointing, as we were eager to try more from their menu. Since we couldn’t find suitable alternatives, we decided to leave instead of ordering anything else. While the food quality was decent, the limited menu options and high pricing did not justify staying longer.

Overall, Dhaba Est 1986 offers a good dining atmosphere and tasty food, but the pricing could be more reasonable, and they need to ensure better availability of dishes. Would recommend it if you don’t mind paying a premium, but do check menu availability beforehand.
