The Bier Library is a massive space, but what I loved instantly about it, is the fact that no matter how crowded it gets, you still have most of the privacy you need at your table. They have some lovely live gigs over the weekends and that packs the place up. Service can get slightly spotty at such times but nothing that would put you off too much. They have around 6 beers on tap on average and you will find something or the other that will work for you. For me, it was the 'Weiss' and the 'Stout' that worked across two visits. Getting to the food, you have the Indian inspired mezze board – which comes with pita, curried hummus, spicy mint and peas mash and some tempered yogurt. Goes brilliantly well with the beer. There is also the Chakna board, with 'Spicy Papad', 'Nippat', 'Congress Nuts', 'Channa Chor' etc. The 'Truffle-parmesan Dusted Fries' are a great choice. The 'Curried Onion Rings' are a good choice too. Vegetarians will like the 'Stuffed Chilli Bajjis', 'Marinara Mozzarella Sticks', 'Arbi Tuk' as well as the 'Jalapeno Spiced Sautéed Mushrooms'. There is a wide range of choice in the small plates section - The 'Kerala Beef Fry', the 'Pork Belly Chilli Roast', the 'Pandi Masala' (yes, I love my pork). There is a lot more – from sandwiches and burgers to pastas, to curry bowls from across the world, and a range of biryanis too. Among the desserts, you want to try are 'Serradura', 'Almond Ricotta' and the 'Pannacotta Duo' in a range of flavours.
We love the fact that microbreweries are slowly inching towards good gastronomy along with their beers so the chances of you leaving the bar hungry have turned surprisingly less. What was earlier a limited menu of pizzas and burgers has suddenly flared into a much more grander selection of food, pacifying the foodie in you with a plethora of eclectic grub. Beer lovers with a hankering for gastronomy should head over to ‘The Bier Library’ tucked in one of the trendiest neighborhoods of Bengaluru city and is a popular party spot for weekend pub-crawl. It’s an ideal place to grab a beer or two with a splendid spread of grub shared with friends or colleagues. Feed the location, Patel Narayana Reddy Layout, 80 Feet Main Road, Koramangala 6th Block, while booking the cab.
Rule of thumb of visiting any microbrewery is to have whatever is on tap. The Bier Library generally keeps as many as 6 craft beers on tap, which gives you enough variety to pick from. To make things easier, why not ask for a beer sampler to begin. The bartender whisks up potent cocktails if you prefer margaritas over beer. Food wise, the microbrewery offers quite an eclectic selection of cuisines emphasizing heavily on appetizers if you simply want to drink and nibble. Munch on, quail pepper fry, devilled eggs, habanero-spiced wings, artisanal paneer tikka, koliwada fried prawns and cocktail samosa. For a fuller meal try indulging in, linguria pizza, prawn malai curry, classic cheese beef burger, makahni mac & cheese, cottage cheese medallion sizzler, TBL sirloin steak and eggplant-zucchini parmigiana.
Order a pickle or Indian mezze board to share amongst friends. Pamper your sweet tooth with, almond ricotta, rasmalai, drunken chocolate mousse, serra ura or baked cheesecake. The high price of partying at The Bier Library puts the microbrewery out of many people’s budget but if you can afford it, it will be an exceptional experience. Listen to live music while you enjoy your beer. The mood is perpetually lively and exciting here, which makes it a great place to hang out during weekends. The Spartan industrial space is glammed up with modern light installations, variety of comfortable seating styles and laid-back ambience. This multi-level bar includes an open outdoor space as well.
