This huge restaurant claims to be a coffee shop but was clearly designed as a buffet restaurant to cater to business travellers and group traffic. It was opened by a team from the Hyatt in the days when the hotel was called a Grand Hyatt and follows the usual Hyatt formula of a mix of live stations and food prepared earlier in the day. Hyatt chefs have exited but the standards remain acceptable.
A complete buffet place, just go choose buffet and you have ample dishes to try. Variety of continental, Asian, indian food is available to satisfy your stomach. Overall Good food, good service nice seating and yes nice ambience, lovely afternoon experience.
Have stayed at THE GRAND Hotel many times and the breakfast at CASCADES is excellent - a wide buffet choice, hot ans cold, to satisfy all tastes... I find the service excellent - no bad experiences at all and I paticularly commend Deepak Singh Mehta, Santosh and Akash.....and as I was temporarily unable to walk well due to an accident, the staff there attended to my requirements very promptly and courteously without me moving from my chair! ALL staff were exceedingly hellful.
Clear indication that the hotel spends on the ambiance and not on the menu. Limited number of dishes, staff not trained to conduct themselves to not be standing on your heads and watching you eat. Expensive items are not displayed or served with ease. One needs to ask for fish which seems to be served in controlled quantities. For this bring my 5th experience at any buffet in Delhi, I would suggest spending 200 rupees more and heading to the leela hotel in gurgaon. As they say, not every player in the market is seasoned to serve well.
Craving for strawberry satiated at Cascades with variety of amazing strawberry delicacies. Pan cake, pastry, shake were amazing. The only thing was it took very long to be served but worth the wait. Must try!
Went there for couple of business meeting and found it very suitable for conducting business meetings...there is not much of a crowd there and the service is quite good...the place provides ample space for one to conduct business meetings in privacy and the overall ambience is very nice and comfortable...since we ordered only tea/coffee cant comment on the quality of food..
‘Cascades’, The Grand, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, restaurant was originally conceived as a coffee shop but was clearly designed to suit buffet requirements for in house guests and general footfall. They then turned the restaurant into an all day operation catering to the customers. The room itself is huge with high ceiling and more than enough space to function two restaurants. A glass wall on one side looks over the garden so the patrons get a tremendous view of the outdoors. It like practically sitting in the lush greenery. It’s not hard to guess which the best seat in the house is. They have tried to capture the minimalistic look in the interiors focusing on space and comfort. Easy sofas are placed all over the room highlighted by the tall date trees. Party of two to six can sit comfortably on one table. The space between the tables are enough to offer privacy and intimacy. A great place to hold business meetings and important dinners.
The menu is multicuisine and covers a lot of regions. As Cascades is a twenty-four hour restaurant it serves breakfast to dinner. For the most important meal of the day the chef presents omelette, waffles, paratha, dosa, poori-bhaji, American breakfast, south indian breakfast, eggs and pancakes. In evenings they start the menu with seafood soup, cobb salad, Norwegian smoked salmon, cream of mushroom soup, caprese and goat’s cheese salad. Starters like sarson mahi tikka, achari paneer tikka, miso soup, crispy nem, prawn hargow, fish & chips, samosa and aloo tikka chaat, chicken orly and tandoori aloo. In between bites can be savoured with burgers, kathi rolls, pastas, risottos and sandwiches. For second course you can look into herb crusted pan-fried salmon, tenderloin steak, Nellore fish curry, khumb do pyaza, lamb chops, paneer kadhai, root vegetable tagine and mutton rogan josh.
Oriental menu can enjoyed with wok fried snapper, lamb black pepper, braised tofu & mushroom, thai red curry and green curry with vegetables. End the meal on a sweet note. With tiramisu, chocolate brownie, cardamom crème brulee, baked cheesecake, gulab jamun, kesari rasmalai and fresh fruit platter you can leave with a big smile on your face. The kids will not be disappointed for they have their own menu. The service is smooth and efficient. Dining at Cascades is slightly pricey but not so much to make a dent in your bank account.
