If you ask venture capitalists and private equity experts to name a mini-chain of mid-priced restaurants they are happy with, it is nearly always Mamagoto they name. And with good reason. When the first Mamagoto opened in Delhi’s Khan Market around a decade ago, it was the pioneer in the Pan-Asian space offering high quality and largely authentic dishes at attractive prices. It helped that the restaurant was bustling and cheerful and the vibe was happy. Mamagoto has since expanded outside of Khan Market and all over India but the basic principles have not varied: good food, a great vibe, efficient service and affordable prices. It’s success demonstrates that a commitment to quality always yields results. No wonder investors regard it as the chain to emulate!
The food is very tasty here and something I always look forward to. Children love to go there. The staff was prompt in service and very welcoming. They serve East Asian food
Located on the second floor in the mall, this place serves excellent pan asian. service was good and prompt.
#asiancusine #mamagato #newdelhi #foodiesinrajkot #foodies #wontons #bangkokcurrybowl #papayasalad Quick review - I love asian/chinese and as we dont get great chinese in Rajkot, I try and get it everytime I travel. A week ago - I was in Delhi and landed up Mamagato Khan Market. The place is done up really nicely - the menu is mix of chinese, thai, a bit of malaysian and indonesian. Another difference I find in the better places is that the Captain is usually very well informed - so we ended up with a very interesting menu - Thai Wontons - very different from the regular wontons as they had a thicker and crispier shell - the filling was to die for and as opposed to the mince in usual wontons - this one had finely chopped or 'brunelled' - a very fine dice of veggies. The sweet chilly sauce was really good with a kick instead of being too sweet - Som Tam is a raw papaya salad with a tangy dressing - taste of tamarind and crushed peanuts... has a little bit of tomato and palm sugar in the dressing to give it a very well rounded taste... Its quite easy to make at home only thing to take care is dont grate the papaya else it gets really soggy - Bangkok Bowl - this was a surprise and we have sticky rice with it instead of fried rice. A good portion of sticky rise topped with a fine mince of veggies in a really tangy spicy - not sauce but something with the consistency of pav-bhaji bhaji. Really well made and the bit size pieces had a crunch to them.. very generous portion - Fried Spinach and Tofu in miso sauce - really interesting as the tofu is wrapped in banana leaves before it is steamed and so it really absorbs a bit of the sauce... miso is a salty japanese condiment - very fragrant and deep in flavor - To round it up - a great coconut and date icecream, their specialty Mamagato has a lot of branches across the country and the food is quite well suited to the Indian palate..... worth a try Food - 4.5/5 Ambiance - 4/5 Service - 5/5 Pricing - 4/5
Excellent food served by efficient and helpful staff. Although a midweek day, the restaurant was reasonably crowded. Good to book table in advance.
Visited for dinner along with my wife for a casual dinner. Received with a smile and a choice of table as we had reserved in advance thru Eazydiner. Ordered a pitcher of Margarita on the rocks. It was well made . Had some chicken dimsums and crunchy sole fish. both the preparations were well made and fresh. enjoyed the ambience. will visit again.
Once I heard someone say whenever she misses Bangkok she visits Mamagoto at DLF Promenade Mall, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. This quirky yet casual restaurant has forever changed the face of pan Asian cuisine. The food is out of this world delicious proven by the long queues at lunch hour. The joint is done up in their signature colour yellow with oriental pattern wallpapers. The use of Japanese illustrations adds some authenticity to the place while using quintessential bamboo sketches as background. Wall arts are attractive and amusing looking with pop colours. The view from the restaurant of the mall below adds to another world dimension. The restaurant is well lit making the yellow pop out more. The staff is attentive and music energetic. If you are on a date or meeting try choosing some other place. Mamagoto is high energy and more in the lines of shopping break category.
Food is what speaks for Mamagoto. It is what pulls back the loyal customers all the time. Their wok tossed section is long. They have meat, seafood, vegetarian, chicken, fried, steamed categories. Crispy lotus stem, hot basil chicken cups, chicken wings, crispy chilli potato is in first page alone. Fried starters have things like spicy fried calamari, mixed vegetable tempura, corn fritter balls, rock shrimp tempura. Grill page has soya garlic robata, spiced Asian BBQ chicken breast, and street chicken satay. Grilled seafood/meat has its own components as well. So has steamed section. Asian soups and salads have lifelong fans. But what is most ordered is bowl. Mamagoto has bowls of rice/noodles with your chosen curry like a one pot meal. Teriyaki meal in a bowl is highly appreciated. A Thai lost in hunan is another favourite with spicy Thai lamb with a red curry flavour served on pad Thai noodles. It has all the characteristics to become my favourite too. In curries mamagoto serves Thai red/green curry with your chosen rice or noodles.
Mamagoto’s desserts have caramel sponge cake with toffee sauce, Nutella mousse, carrot cake and delicious homemade coconut and palm sugar ice cream. To drink non-alcoholic cleansers like wasabi mary, cocktails, mocktails, pitchers, beer, rum, whisky, wines are housed too. Mamagoto has making of an expensive restaurant but it isn’t so. In one thousand bucks you can stop missing Bangkok and take home some dumplings too. Win-win.
