Not much has changed at Parikrama from its days as one of Delhi’s fanciest restaurants and that is not necessarily a good thing! A whiff of the past welcomes you as you walk in, but you don’t mind because of the panoramic view of the city from this revolving restaurant, the only one in New Delhi. That was, and remains, its biggest plus point. The food, mostly North Indian with some Chinese specialties thrown in, is average, the prices are on the higher side but with Parikrama featuring prominently in the memories of local diners for weddings, engagements, etc. and in the itineraries of visiting tourists, the restaurant stays busy.
Too much of a surprise is a good thing, a fact proven to be true by this amazing standalone restaurant. Great ambience is the key to a successful restaurant, we mean that’s what attracts the eyes in the first place. And what better place to enjoy a fabulous view than the heart of Lutyen’s Delhi, Connaught Place. This hot vicinity is home to an exclusive standalone restaurant called ‘Parikrama’, but what makes the restaurant so special is the fact that it revolves. Yes, you heard it right! We too have a revolving restaurant right on our doorstep. It is said to be one of the fanciest places in the city to dine. Ambience is top notch and food is heart-warming even if expensive. The address to this stunning restaurant is Antrish Bhavan, Kasturba Gandhi Marg in Connaught Place. To wine and dine in style you can’t do better than Parikrama.
A legendary place to dine, Parikrama revels in its exclusivity. It is the only revolving restaurant in the city that offers its diners a magnificent view of the city with their meal, so its popularity doesn’t come as much of a surprise. It is wise however to book the table in advance, as there is always a waiting list. The interiors of Parikrama is done in a tasteful manner, with soft tones being used to elevate the airiness of the room. The room is in the circular shape and generously spaced, flanked by a row of large picture windows displaying a panoramic view. Soft pastel shades are used in the furnishings, which is both elegant and formal in appearance. If you are interested in organizing a party, let them know in advance.
Food at Parikrama is entirely satisfactory. The menu dabbles in North-Indian, Chinese and Mughlai cuisine excellently and manages to impress the diners with its food as well as ambience. Variety is quite lavish, brimming with classics and some unusual delicacies too to take your taste buds on a joyride. Foray into the menu beginning with, smoked cheese cigars, lumpia, ebi tempura, sabz seekh banarasi, laksa, bruschetta, golden fried prawns, sikandari raan and murg tikka reshmi. Follow that up with, murg pasandey “Parikrama”, chilli chicken schezwan, pizza, fish curry, pasta, burgers, Thai curry, sweet & sour fish, mushroom do pyaza and rahra gosht Punjabi. Conclude with a peach cardinal, gulab jamun, litchees with ice-cream and kesar pista kulfi.
