Step in and you will be pleasantly surprised at the heightened activity in a huge hall where hundreds of people are eating, drinking, laughing and smoking aromatic hookahs. The ground floor is buzzing with loud music and huge TV screens adding to the spirit. If you want a quiet corner, take the staircase and find a suitable seat, you will be well attended and given the same menu. As the name suggests, the food reflects local dishes of various regions. I chose to start my meal with ‘Chakhna Platter’ which had everything I like: popcorn, masala peanuts, channa jor garam, three kinds of fried papad and colour fingers. So much to nibble on with my 'Ganna Gaad Ke Drink’ made of sugarcane juice, mint, amla juice, elderflower n rock salt. How could I not have 'Gol Gappas' shots and 'Aloo Tikki' nukkad waali? Both were tasty but I preferred the preparation of 'Mumbai Vada Pav' more. It came hot and had just the right kind of texture and spices with delicious chutneys. What steals the show is ‘Sardarji ki Fish Masala Fry’, kick-ass 'Honey Chilli Potato', 'Gandhiji Masala Bread Omelette' and 'Ginger Chicken Momos' from the Thapa Momo Centre. In the mains, do not miss 'Lucknawi Galouti' on 'Mini Warki Paratha' and a 'Dry Chilli Chicken'; they are spicy, flavoursome and delightful. I loved 'Bachpan Ki Maggie Masala' and 'Bahadur Thela Style Chowmein'. For the health conscious, 'Heritage Superfood Salad' with Quinoa, Beetroot, lentil, fits the bill. Round off your meal with 'Mini paneer Jalebi With Rabri'.
Its stunning how quickly New Delhi transformed itself into becoming one of the hottest party spots in the country. For the past decade, the city has become a playground for several trendy pubs and snazzy nightclubs, adding more to its spectacular collection every day. Casual laid-back lounges with industrial chic look seems to have become a trend with the city. A recent addition to the mix is this hip new spot called ‘Local’, which since it’s opening is pulling in quite a crowd. A fairly new addition to Connaught Place’s glamourous drinking scene, Local brings in its own unique flavour. The USP is its relaxing yet exciting vibe that lets you know there is something happening under the calm surface. The bar is located on KG Marg at Scindia House in Connaught Place, Heart of Delhi.
Local keeps its punters happy and hooked by doing live sports screening. The ambience turns noisy and lively then as everyone cheers for his or her teams. Beers flows freely and baskets of nachos or peanuts are passed around. Local has created a stir in the tippler world by coming out with wholesale menu. Here you can enjoy your drinks for wholesale rates, which makes your booze-o-thon marginally cheaper. Booze menu brims with a wide range of wines, shots, beers, whiskies, gin, tequila, brandy, vodkas and champagnes. Pick a few nibblers from Local’s North Indian/Continental menu. Add that salty kick with, salt & pepper medu vada, chilli cheese toast, lamb seekh kebab, parsley fish fingers with cocktail tartare and tandoori masala jheenga. Follow the starters with something more substantial such as, fish in black bean sauce, penne pesto cheese, railway station ki mutton curry and crispy fish burger.
There is plenty of options to choose from. On a time crunch? Opt for Local’s desi lunchbox. Take care of your sweet tooth with Local’s wonderful dessert spread. Polish off their, coco chocolate brownie, rabdi mini paneer jalebi, kesar phirni, dark chocolate slice cake, crème caramel and gulab jamun with vanilla ice cream. On some days of the week, they have fun theme nights. Local is a pocket-friendly spot, an attractive prospect for tipplers. The bar is styled lounge-like and spans across two levels. Dark, dimly-lit interiors intensifies the intimate vibe. Plush leather sofa chairs and couches are added for the punter’s comfort. Huge wall arts of Delhi’s local landscapes are mounted on the walls. Ambience is informal yet electrifying.
