Best Avocado Dishes In Mumbai

There was a time when Chocolate was the one ingredient that had a crazy fan following all over the world. Today it is all about the Avocado. They are all over the internet, social media and on every trendy hipster menu. Chefs are experimenting with them and avocados have come a long way from just being used to make guacamole. It can be expensive at times to buy them to cook with at home and tricky a well in case you end up with an unripe fruit once you cut it open. So to avo(id) pun intended, all the stress just hop into the restaurants and enjoy them in these many avatars.

Avo bowl at La Folie Lab Kamala Mills, Mumbai – The newest member of the La Folie family is full of beautifully plated meals with an emphasis on fresh ingredients and healthy food. There are a couple of dishes that have avocado in them but it's their Avo Bowl which is full of fresh cut avos, airy foams of goat's cheese, spiced grains, fresh tomatoes and homemade lavash. It's light and delicious and perfectly shows off that amazing avocado.

Avocado Sushi at JIA The Oriental Kitchen, Colaba, Mumbai  Recently a lot of contemporary Sushi dishes feature bits of avocado. The special vegetarian ones most have them but then some restaurants play around with flavours and come up with their own version like JIA. Here their signature dish is a plate of sushi they called the JIA Special Roll which is Sushi with Crispy Tempura Prawns, thinly sliced avocado, togarashi and their special signature sauce generously drizzled all over. This is not your traditional sushi but it's full of flavour and avocados.

Avocado Toast at Candy and Green, Breach Candy, Mumbai – The most popular way of enjoying the fruit seems to be when it's slathered on slices of toast. Candy and Green has a dedicated vegetarian menu and they do a simple but satisfying version of this most Instagrammed dish. Here it's sourdough bread lightly toasted with smashed fresh avocados smeared on it with a drizzle of avocado oil and hazelnut dukkah.

Avocado Sandwich at Kitchen Gardens By Suzette, Bandra West, Mumbai – It is not often you'll find avocado in a sandwich, it's usually on toast but Kitchen Gardens does a delectable version. This sandwich has avocados, fresh buffalo Mozzarella, Cucumber, Tomatoes, Micro Greens, Dijon mustard and Balsamic Vinegar making it a tasty, healthy, filling treat.

Avocado and Feta Salad at Bombay Salad Co, Bandra West, Mumbai  The best way to feed your avocado fix is with a fresh salad. The king of salads are served at the Bandra's most loved Bombay Salad Co and their avocado and feta salad is a winner. It is full of avocado and feta of course as well as Cherry Tomato, Roquette, Sweet Corn, Sun Dried Tomatoes, Olives, Cucumber, Radish and dressed in a Lemon-Mint Vinaigrette.
