The true joy of Christmas is a meal shared with family and friends

It is the most wonderful time of the year. As clichéd as that might sound, it really is. The weather plays nice, there is a nip in the air, everyone is in a festive mood, shops are lit up and decorated for the holidays and, most importantly, everyone is geared towards whipping up some great traditional Christmas inspired meals! It is the holiday when everyone indulges a little more than they should, and restaurants get very generous with their festive menus. It comes as no surprise that almost every mainstream restaurant has a special Christmas lunch and dinner prepared, but we picked some of the most interesting ones across the city! Bon appétit!

Me So Happi – Just like its name suggests, this bar and café is thrilled with the festive season. All the elves in all their outlets across the city are working hard to put together a very exciting Christmas menu. Think five-course meals with brandied crab bisque, roast duck with rosemary-scented potatoes and port gravy, or classic mini minced pies. They are so excited with this incredible menu that if you place an order a day in advance, you could also pick up an apricot, raisin and chestnut stuffed roast chicken and celebrate at home. Reservations need to be made in advance, but it is Christmas week and for food like this, it is worth it!

The Sassy Spoon – Not only are both their outlets (Nariman Point and Bandra) beautifully decorated with festive cheer, but the menu specially curated for Christmas is also absolutely delicious. Chef Irfan has gone the extra mile and delivered a stunning roast turkey with glazed carrots, potatoes and cranberry compote, braised duck with orange ginger reduction, and even a traditional Yule log. The menus are different at both outlets, so check before you make a reservation but both are equally delicious.

Cafe Zoe – This restaurant always seems to get it right. Great food, great ambience, good drinks and good music as well. So it really is no surprise that they have managed to get into the spirit of Christmas and really get it right. Their menu is a treat that includes a suckling pig with cranberry glaze and vegetables, sliced turkey with stuffing, a grand roast chicken and even traditional Christmas pudding. Cafe Zoe never disappoints and this meal sounds like the closest thing to a traditional Christmas meal in someone’s home.

Gaylord – This restaurant is more of an institution in Mumbai. Over the years, it has consistently delivered more than satisfying Indian and Continental food, and diners are always happy to revisit. This Christmas, Gaylord has embraced the festive season with great gusto and has prepared a special treat for their guests. Apart from the dining menu, the Gaylord bakery has created exciting Christmas hampers full of treats, making it a great gifting option.

Mia Cucina – One of the most popular restaurants in Powai, the cosy and comfortable Mia Cucina is enjoying their Christmas with beautiful decorations, a cocktail list specially crafted for the festivities, and a delectable food menu. There is lots to choose from, but the highlights include the brie tarts (which are stuffed with cheese, walnuts and grapes), the roast pork and the roast chicken with stuffing.
