It is the holy month of Ramzan and, come sunset, the city comes alive with all that glorious food cooked month long. It is a gourmand's delight to go to all the various eat streets and popular stops to gorge on phirnis and biryanis but for a more refined experience, these restaurants in Mumbai have put together special Iftar menus which we think you will enjoy.
Boulevard, The Orchid, Mumbai - This all day dining is all set to showcase their Iftar menu but this one is a little different. It is the perfect one for folks that eat late at night as it is the midnight Iftar buffet. It is an elaborate spread from midnight right upto 03:00 am and includes favourites like Nali Nihari, Ghost Ke Chaap, different kinds of biryanis and pulaos like Khushnuma Pulao and even a Machli Biryani. For people with a sweet tooth, they can load up of Falooda, Phirni and Malpuas all night long.
Souk, The Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, Mumbai - Souk is one of the finest restaurants in the city and the perfect place for a lavish Middle Eastern meal. They're pulling out all the stops this month with not one but two elaborate Iftar menus for diners to choose from. Each menu includes a selection of hot and cold mezze which is really their trademark ( think hummus, falafel, fattoush ) and then from soups, grills, entrees and desserts. Dishes included are Egyptian Lamb Stew, Shish Taouk, Omali, Baklava and a lot more.
Ummrao, Courtyard Mumbai International Airport - This North Indian restaurant at the Courtyard By Marriott has a lavish Ramadan Iftar Menu. Guests can enjoy dishes from Awadhi Paya Shots and a hearty Mutton Haleem to Bombay Style Bohri Botis. It is a fixed degustation menu and includes nearly 10 stunning dishes. Not only that there is also a special Vegetarian menu for those who do not eat meat but still want to enjoy the festivities.
Maffy's, Sea Palace Hotel, Mumbai - This fairly new Middle Eastern inspired bistro is gaining popularity with their regular menu but all month long they have prepared a special Iftar Box. It is a set box that includes dishes like Chicken Samboosa, Wah Falafel, Maffy's Tikka, Musahab Chicken and Chicken Machboos to name a few. Not exactly traditional Iftar fare like we are used to but a lot of traditional Middle Eastern dishes to give you a completely different flavour.
Mashhad, Taj Santacruz, Mumbai - The Indian restaurant located in near the Taj Santa Cruz Hotel has put together a fantastic special Ramzan Iftar menu. It is a bespoke menu with unlimited food and mocktails with treats like Shish Taouk, Chelow Kebab, the Mashaad special Chicken Biryani and Malai Phirni. It is well priced and almost like a never-ending buffet at your table.
