5 Best Restaurants

SodaBottleOpenerwalla

The first of its kind in Delhi NCR, SodaBottleOpenerWala introduces Mumbai Irani and Parsi cuisine to the capital. The window displays bottles of sweets like orange toffees, Poppins, coin chocolates, etc. The red walls and old-fashioned furniture give the restaurant a certain old world charm.

The signature dishes like the Bombay rasta sandwich, bhendi bazar sheek paratha, Toblerone Mousse, papeta par Eeda (eggs baked on a bed of sliced tomatoes and potatoes) and Irani keema macaroni are all must tries. The most popular is the famous mutton berry pulao. The food is served in a simple wholesome manner in dented aluminium cake moulds.

Olive Bistro

This casual restaurant, with its quirky alfresco seating and whimsical indoor seating, serves mainly European and Mediterranean fare. The menu has a good variety of salads, burgers, sandwiches, bagels, pastas, thin crust pizzas. Favourites are the waffles served with maple syrup, berry compote and whipped cream and the divine tiramisu in a jar.

Farzi Café

This bistro-style modern Indian restaurant has an equal number of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. The mini raj kachoris with saunth foam, the cheesy stuffed mini kulchas, Goan chorizo pulao, the butter chicken bun, the dal chawal arancini and chilly duck samosa are only a few of the popular gastronomic delights served here. In terms of cocktails, they have plenty of fun options like Spaghetti Shots, the Orange Passion Sphere, Chuski Margarita and The Farzi Apple Foamtini. Don’t miss live gigs on some days during the week.

Smokey's BBQ and Grill

A great take on the BBQ joints of the American mid-west, it is finished in wood and brick and is done up in a very western fashion. The food served here is typical of any good American steakhouse with dishes like 2 pepper steak, the John Dory Fish and also the burgers and hot dog buns are by far the best. They have many Indian influenced dishes on their menu as well, like Andhra-style Tenderloin Chilli Dog and the Hara Masala Chilli Tenderloin Burger.

Made in Punjab

A great place for gourmet indulgence, the menu brings to life many traditional dishes from the Sikh kingdom and presents them in an appealing fashion. It encompasses the agricultural zones surrounding the famous five rivers of Punjab. The murgh makhni, railway mutton curry and tandoori chaap are not to be missed by meat lovers. It is essential that you end your meal here with one of the divine desserts, the sweet and crisp fried jalebi and the Made in Punjab kulfi sundae being the best.

Cyber Hub Watering Holes

Cyber Hub is to Gurgaon what an oasis is to a desert; a place for rejuvenation right in the mid of routine, corporate work. Walk from one end of Cyber Hub to the other and you will pass bars offering everything from unheard of cocktails to heard-of-but-hard-to-find scotch or sake. Nearly all of them serve good alcohol in great settings. So the question is not so much ‘should I drink at Cyber Hub?’ but ‘where should I drink at Cyber Hub?’

Here are some suggestions:

Sutra Gastropub

Sutra has a drinks menu that reads more like a list of every brand ever made. The cocktails menu, and even the bartenders, seem to favour gin and the outdoor section is a great place to enjoy the gin based Sutra Chai.

Sutra’s taste in music is one of its main draws. With theme nights and a dance floor Sutra has as much to offer the ear as it does the taste buds.

Farzi Café

This restaurant is not just about food but also about some intriguing cocktails. With spaghetti floating in shot glasses and smoke billowing out of martinis the Farzi cocktails look as good as they taste.

Dos Burros

Let Dos Burros be your guide to the world of Tequila. Follow the recommendations of the wait staff and try salty, sour and bitter tastes. Or stay at the bar perched on adjustable stools inside. There is no pressure at Dos Burros, feel free to enjoy your drink any way you want.

Raasta

What sets Raasta apart from the other bars and restaurants on this list is how large its dance floor is. You get an immediate sense that this bar is not about an adventurous menu. Instead they focus on the classics that help you get your groove on. The bongtails are worth a try and the staff is always happy to recommend one.

Imperfecto

The cocktails at Imperfecto are as colourful as the ambience. The shooters section in the bar menu is a creative line up of liquor based shots to get you going for the DJ night and Jaeger bombs are a favourite here.

The Sweetest Guide to Cyber Hub

If you are planning to end your meal with a dessert, here’s where you should go:

Cherry Comet

Instant Ice creams. We are not kidding. This can be one visual treat! Take your kids to see it being prepared fresh and right in front of your eyes. The ice cream ‘comes alive’ when liquid nitrogen is added with your preferred flavour. Wait for the dramatic spill of smoke that follows. Choose your garnish and voila! All that crankiness will disappear with each cold nibble.

Red Mango

To all those weird cravings in life when you know you want something cold, not creamy, loaded with flavours and a variety of toppings, frozen yoghurt is a blessing. Their menu is filled with fresh smoothies, shakes (apple tiramisu!), parfaits (youghurt + fruits + garnish in layers), healthy salads, sandwiches, ice teas, ades (slang term for a sweet drink made with choice of fruit juice, water, sugar and honey) and of course their non-fat frozen yoghurt!

Kings Kulfi

Family tagging along and they'll have none of this fancy (read strange) concoctions and you'd love a good stick or pot of kulfi a la faluda, kings has your back! Inexpensive (40 bucks a stick) with plenty of flavours & some are even sugar free! Their sharifa (custard apple) & kesar kulfi are delicious.

Yogito

Another froyo joint! Not as creamy as Red Mango though. Expect small servings but look out for their 1+1 scheme. They also have gelato to offer but most are chocolate-based so fruit cravings will have to wait if mango won't do.

Angels in my Kitchen

Another outlet of the famous bakery chain, this outlet has some spectacular French windows with fresh sunlight streaming in. It is the only exclusive patisserie in the hub and has couches to relax on with one of their delicious pastries and some coffee. Go for their lemon tarts, rainbow cake, red velvet cake, mocha gateau and assorted muffins if you're looking to pick something up!

Krispy Creme

If you like your donuts creamy, light and melt in the mouth, Krispy Creme is for you. Just remember that their donuts are really sweet and are served hot. The donuts are also freshly prepared in batches and with delicious toppings and garnishes.

Haldiram's

To the times when nothing but motichoor ladoos, gulab jamuns and kaju ki barfi can calm you down. When those mid evening cravings hit you, have a dosa, chole bhature or a raj kachori and slowly, happily devour the mithai.

We've given you enough reasons to treat yourself, what are you doing still sitting in your chair?
