Like every year, this year also the city hotels are planning to celebrate this special day with some lip-smacking dishes on the offering. Here are some of the irresistible offers on this Independence Day.

Khandani Rajdhani, Park Street Area, Kolkata

From August 14th - August 16th, the famous thali place is offering Tiranga dishes for the guests. As there will be the traditional thalis which get served throughout the week, there will be also specially curated Independence Day dishes.

The old evergreen classics of Dhokla (refer cover image), Kandhvi, Lassi and Pulao will be served in tricolours.

JW Kitchen, JW Marriott Kolkata

The all-day dining of JW Marriott will have specially curated buffet for the Independence Day and will have dishes like Lasooni Tiranga Shimla Mirch Ka Salad, Andhra Tawa Machhi, Goan Pork Pepperoni, Palak Gajar Ke Sath Murg Ka Roll as starters.

In the mains, some of the dishes will be Angara Fish Tikka, Lucknowi Lamb Nehari, black pepper roasted fish five-spiced marinated Pork Loin to chose from.

Waterside Cafe, Hyatt Regency, Kolkata

The theme here is named as Kashmir to Kanyakumari, indulge in flavours from across India. The menu has chats like Dahi Bhalle, Dhokla, Pani Puri, Bharwan Aloo Tikki Aur Chhole. In the mains, there is Mutton Rogan Josh from Kashmir, Akhrot and Anjeer Ke Kofte and Butter Chicken from Punjab, Gutte Ki Sabzi and Macchi Jaisamandi from Rajasthan, Kolhapuri Chicken and Amti from Maharashtra etc.

The chefs here will put together Flavours of India in the 9 day-long food festival that they will run. The menu will comprise of regional and traditional dishes from various parts of India which will include Kolkata, Punjab, Rajasthan, Bihar, Maharashtra, Odisha, Uttarakhand and others.

Grand Market Pavilion, ITC Royal Bengal, Kolkata

This is called a celebration of flavours and handpicked dishes across India. Some of the dishes which will be available here for the brunch will be Tiranga Paneer Tikka, Indradhinush Ke Kofte, Kai Korma, Tiranga Sondesh, Duck Confit with Poached Peers and others.

Cost - This is for lunch and dinner both and the cost is INR 1947 AI

Cal 27, Taj Bengal, Kolkata

The independence day special brunch at Cal 27 will have a special menu. There will be veg and non-veg salads, soup and veg and non-veg continental and Indian sections and some lip-smacking dishes to die for. Some of the highlights will be Pumpkin Risotto Cake, Wild Mushroom Ragout, Roast Onion Comsomme, Asian Marinated Chicken Thigh, Pickle Shitake Star Anise Infused Pork Belly, Butter Chicken, Gosht Biryani, Hyderabadi Mutton Korma and others. In desserts, there will be Rosogolla, Gajar Ka Halva, Tiranga Barfi and others.

Ajisai, the Japanese dine den has plenty of options to choose from this Independence day. They have introduced special dishes priced between INR 250 to INR 375 + taxes.


Tricolour Sushi

There is a tricolour mocktail made with kiwi, apple, fresh cream, and mango pulp. Tricolour sushi both veg and non-veg variants are also available with salmon, cheese, mayonnaise, cucumber roll covered with tricolour tempura bits or spinach and carrot. There is also a tricoloured dessert.


Tricolour Ice Cream

There is a Tricolour Ice Cream which is a combination of coconut, green tea and orange basil.

Cost - Between INR 250 to INR 375 plus taxes

The special meal in their all-day dining will have some special dishes for the occasion like - Tricolour Chicken and Veg Momos, Saffron Rissotto, Jai Hind Dhaba Gosht, Tiranga Curried Rice, Royal Bengal Fish and few others.

Cost - INR 1499 plus taxes for alcoholic and INR 1199 plus taxes for non alcoholic brunch.

The Parking Lot, Park Street Area, Kolkata

There are some awesome fudge brownies from The Parking Lot, Park Street on the occasion of this Independence Day. The brownies available are Blonde, Coconut, Nutella and Oreo. These are priced at INR 72 only.

ITC Fabelle has come up with a great initiative this Independence day.

There is a limited edition of special chocolates on sale representing various parts of the country and basis the region the chocolates are also different.


The variants are named as northern Himalayan Region ( Dark Chocolate Smoked with Tea and Pink Himalayan Salt ), Thar dessert ( Ruby Chocolate with Toasted Sesame, Salted Peanuts and Toasted Amaranth ), Gangetic plains ( Milk Chocolate with Jaggery Powder and crunchy Puffed Rice), Central Plains ( Dark Chocolate with Candied Orange Peel blended with Raisins ), Deccan Plateau ( White Chocolate with Coffee and Cardamom Powder effusion ) and Coastal Regions (Milk Chocolate with Desiccated Coconut Powder and Candied Mango ). Each of these bars will be available across Fabelle outlets. These bars are priced at INR 265 and each purchase will see ITC making a contribution to the Make a Wish foundation
