Anjan Chatterjee’s contemporary European all-day diner opened doors in his hometown nine months after its debut in Pune. It became an instant hit. The 130-cover outfit rides on the strength of an alcohol-steered model targeted at youngsters (it is location in the Forum Mall, a popular gen-y hangout, is apt). Done mostly in wood with olive green upholstery, shelves stocked with books and funky paraphernalia, and quirky industrial lights – the setting is swanky yet cosy, a perfect chill zone. It might get a little noisy but that is how it is meant to be. The menu is largely modern European. Hand-tossed thin crust pizzas and their signature 'Mezzuna Fish & Chips' are among their bestsellers. But at Mezzuna, one goes for the tall towers of draught beer, the caprioskas and the sangrias. The long island iced tea is particularly good.
